Amazon $1.99 deals

I also pre-ordered Please Remain Calm by Courtney Summers for $1.99 and The Sin Eater’s Daughter by for $2.99! Amazon was killing it this week!

From the library:

I’ve decided I’m going to start getting audiobooks from the library to rip to iTunes so I have some audiobooks stored up for when I need them. This year I’d really like to keep an audiobook going at all times! (I’ve actually already read and listened to Before I Fall, but it’s one of my favorites and I looove the audio!)

Also, you’ll notice I’ve got a couple duplicates – I got the audio of Alice in Zombieland first, then decided to get the Kindle copy too in case I don’t like the audio, since it was cheap. I requested This Shattered World from the library before I bought it, and since I already had it I decided I’d read the library copy instead of my perfect, signed, shiny new hardback XD

I made a book clock!

When I went to YALLfest, Marie Lu had a clock version of Legend. I thought it was awesome, but then I forgot about it. Then, Becca @ Pivot Book Reviews posted a tutorial to make one! I didn’t actually follow the tutorial, but it’s a great way to learn how! I used a paperback so I wouldn’t need a drill. It was extremely tedious cutting all the pages out! Even with a new blade on my Exacto, it probably took me a good half hour of nothing but cutting squares in all the layers of pages. It’s not very nice in the back, because my clock apparatus is just kind of stuck to the front cover, and it doesn’t really fit into the square hole very well, but it works! And it looks beautiful :D

Stormdancer book clock

It was a pain in the butt, but I would definitely do it again! I’m thinking about doing a giveaway for one sometime in the future…what say you?

Weekly Recap

Posts on the blog:

What I’ve been up to this week:

Nothing exciting, really. I’ve been keeping up with my gym schedule (MWF at 7 am), so yay me! I kept seeing ads for Daily Burn and decided to try it for the free month. I did my first video on Friday – butt, hips, thighs – and HOLY CRAP it was hard!! I feel like I did way more in that 30 minutes than I did all week at the gym. My legs were so noodley (yes, that’s a word now) that I could barely walk! I’m really excited about the program. It’s something I can do at home with limited time when I can’t make a trip to the gym, or if I feel like doing a something extra on my non-gym days. Yay! I measure/weigh in on Feb 1st so we will see how well it works!

What’s in your mailbox, loverlies? Link me up!

Dude, your books are making me go heart eyes emojis. I’ve never tried audiobooks because a lot of them are hours long and I’m a speed reader. It’s also weird to me to hear someone’s voice in my head. But hey, if it works for you, that’s awesome! I heard that people use it while they’re at work so they can kill two birds with one stone.

I had issues with Alice in Zombieland but it was pretty great, overall. [Main issue is that there’s like no similarity to Alice in Wonderland…]

ALSO YOU CLOCK LOOKS SO HELLA FAB. I have like no talent with construction so I’m going to admire the work of others. Plus, I’m more into making collages than clocks ;D

Could you like make a print of the cover and make the clock that way? I know it wouldn’t be a ‘real book clock’ but the books I’d most like to use as a clock would be ones that I enjoy reading, so … (I like to make things complicated).

  3. I listened to and read at the same time Alice in Zombieland so when I couldn’t listen I would read however I realized I like the audio a lot better than reading it. So I bought the other two books in audio also.

You have a great haul this week and I LOVE the clock!

I want to run but the weather is so cold and yuck I have no interest in it, I am hoping in the spring to get to walking at night with my son who is getting a little on the chubby side and he wants to walk with me :) Will be a nice chance for us to chat without the craziness of the house.

    Have a great week Jessi!

I need to check out etsy for more bookish things! I love that tote!

And you got ALL the books apparently Jessi. I really liked Parallel and I hope you do too! I felt like Alice in Zombieland. It’s not so much Alice in Wonderland as it is, “Girl has to kick zombie ass.” I think I would have liked it more if I had known what I was getting into.

Also, LOVE that clock. I haven’t made a clock since Shop class in 6th grade. Where are you going to hang it?

  5. Whoa! VERY nice! Very nice indeed! Those book clocks are pretty awesome, but I don’t know if I could bare buying a book to cut into it to have it made into a clock! I’m weird like that! I cringe when I see those open books that have a word cut into them! LOL!

And ooh pretty poster! And gorgeous bag!! I need to get me one of those from her shop! I just haven’t decided what I would want on a bag! There’s soooo many quotes to chose from! Soooo many covers to choose from! Hence my dilemma and why I haven’t inquired about having something made yet! LOL!

Great books too! I LOVED Wicked!! Though I love just about all Jennifer’s books! And oooh Alice in Zombieland! LOVED that one too! That was one of the first ARCs I ever received and I truly enjoyed the trilogy! It was epic!

Still need to read Stolen Songbird myself too! Though I heard it’s questionable as to there being a sequel since the publisher went out of business. I haven’t heard if the author went elsewhere yet or not.

Hope you enjoy your new reads and all your new goodies!

    Here’s my STS

    Have a GREAT day!

  6. Omg I love that clock! I’d say yes for giveaway, but I might not win and I want one… So any chance you’d sell in your store? I’ll check out the tutorial but since knives and I don’t usually do too well I’m not optimistic… Lol

Congrats on doing so good with the gym! I struggled this week, but managed to get in my 10k/day average steps. This week will be tough too.

Oh and I really thought the audio for Alice in Zombieland was good – so I’ll be interested to see what you think. Anywho have a great week and enjoy your new books :)

    • Aw, haha! I thought about selling them, but with the cost of parts + the book and how tedious it is to make it, I’d have to sell them for upwards of $30-40 to turn a profit, and that just seems like a bit much to me =/
It’s not that hard, I promise!

Thank you! It’s definitely a struggle some days. I had to drag myself out of bed a couple of times last week.

I’ve had several people tell me that the audio is good! I’m kind of on the fence about the book itself because of all the negative reviews, but knowing what I know about it will help because I won’t be expecting Alice in Wonderland and zombies!

Have a lovely week darling! <3

  7. Love this book haul, Jessi! I see tons of pretties in there. :) These Broken Stars and This Shattered World – LOVE. Stolen Songbird, Wicked, and Zombieland are fun too! Hope you enjoy your new books. :)
Also, that wall clock is amazing. I want to make one now!!
