Meet Emily!

I’m a nerdy 13-year-old whom loves books & mismatched socks from Ohio. I have a book blog, of course, and I have a short story out for Kindle, which I shall shamelessly plug HERE.

How long have you been blogging? What made you want to start a book blog?

I’ve been blogging since December, 2011. I won an ARC early December, and whilst looking into ARCs I found out they were given to book bloggers. I was like cool, I’ll need to make one! So I did, haha.

What do you do when you’re not blogging or reading?

I write. A lot. I have a YA novella coming out in November, and I’ve recently put a short story up on Kindle, which a large portion of the proceeds are going to a cancer foundation which provides financial aid to families with children undergoing cancer treatment.

What is your favorite part about blogging? Least favorite?

I love interacting with the authors & bloggers & readers, being able to talk about books! Least favorite is… probably how much work it is. I’ve recently come back from a hiatus and am getting back into blogging daily and it’s pretty hard to write so many posts!

Where did you come up with the name for your blog?

It was the first thing I thought of : On Emily’s Bookshelf, haha, it fit. :)

Do you have any specific book bloggers that inspire you?

Me My Shelf & I was the first book blogger I remember ever reading the blog of, she was always my idol. At the moment, my favorite book blog is either Irisjexx or Pandora’s Books.

What do you look for in a blog when following? What are your pet peeves?

I look for a cute blog design & good posts. My pet peeves would be if they were rude to other bloggers or authors, I dislike all the blogging ‘drama’ that’s been happening of late & thus I don’t check the blogs of anyone involved when that happens.

What’s your favorite book(s)?

The Fault In Our Stars by John Green, Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare ,or Breaking Glass by Lisa Amowitz.

Favorite author?
Cassandra Clare or John Green or Lisa Amowitz.

What is the biggest turn off for you when you’re reading a book?

Typos. They draw me out of a story and remind me it’s a story I’m reading.

What first draws you to a book to make you want to read it?

I am a BIG cover judger, so the first thing is an awesome cover, haha.

Describe yourself in 3 words.

Random, weird, funny.

Name a random fact about yourself.

I own five hermit crabs.

Do you have a job? If so, what do you do?

Nope – still a student.

What did you want to be when you were little? Has that changed?

An author. I wished for it every time I blew out my birthday candles. It hasn’t changed at all!

Randomness

 Cats or dogs?
Cats!

 Favorite animal?
Capybara.

 White, dark, or milk chocolate?
Milk!

 Coke or Pepsi?
Coke all the way.

 Favorite TV show?
I don’t watch many television shows, but I do like Pretty Little Liars.

 Movie?
Howl’s Moving Castle or The Princess Bride.

 Color?
This changes often, but it’s purple at the moment!

Thanks for being here today, Emily! It was great getting to know you! :)
