Holy cow, what an emotional rollercoaster! I was fully prepared to be overcome by feels jumping back in. View Spoiler »

The second time around I feel like I appreciated the secondary and supporting characters so much more. I barely remembered any of them the first time around because I was so obsessed with Buruu and Yukiko! I really enjoyed taking the time to focus on the finer points of this book. I really had time to soak in the complex and incredible world building as well as the amazing cast of characters! I was struck by how much more important they were to me this time and how deeply I was affected by some of the deaths that didn’t matter as much the first time around.

Buruu. Oh my god. I can’t. I LOVE HIM SO MUCH. I love him so much he feels real to me! He is literally my FAVORITE. CHARACTER. EVER. Words can’t express how much I love him! View Spoiler »

Even though I knew what was going to happen in general, there were still things that surprised me. I had forgotten SO much!! This series is truly a hidden gem and I wish more people knew about it. If you haven’t picked it up yet (or at least put it on your TBR list), WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?! You won’t regret it. And I promise I’ll be here for you for emotional support if you need me ;)

  1. That’s so awesome – I love when rereads turn out this way (and it doesn’t happen that often). I do have this series on my TBR but haven’t gotten around to it yet :( Guess I need to push it up my list!

    • I rarely ever re-read anything because I’d rather have the opportunity to find a new book I love! But this is one exception and so is the Wayfarer Redemption by Sara Douglass (which I love more and more every time I re-read). I also re-read the Red Rising series recently and loved it even more! I think it has to be a special kind of book for me to pick it up more than once.

  2. I love re-reading my favorite series! however, I always find that I never have enough time because there’s always other books that I feel like I need to read first. I re-read one o fly favorite series last year and it was so much fun, glad to see that you enjoyed re-reading yours too! Lovely post :)

    • I have the same problem!! I basically never re-read unless it’s a top favorite. I’ve been wanting to read another favorite of mine but it’s 6 books long and I have SO many other books on my TBR already!
