But with L’eihr leaders balking at granting even the most basic freedoms, Cara begins to wonder if she could ever be happy on this planet, even with Aelyx by her side.
Meanwhile, on Earth, Aelyx, finds himself thrown into a full-scale PR campaign to improve human-L’eihr relations. Humans don’t know that their very survival depends on this alliance: only Aelyx’s people have the technology to fix the deadly contamination in the global water supply that human governments are hiding. Yet despite their upper hand, the leaders of his world suddenly seem desperate to get humans on their side, and hardly bat an eye at extremists’ multiple attempts on Aelyx’s life.
The Way clearly needs humans’ help . . . but with what? And what will they ask for in return?
My thoughts
Oh how I missed Cara’s snark and Aelyx’s banter! I had forgotten how much I enjoyed this world. I really like the L’eihr and their culture! It was awesome to finally see the planet.
I found it interesting that Cara and Aelyx were struggling with the same things, despite being on two totally different worlds. Fitting in, being homesick, missing each other. It kinda showed that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side.
I totally loved Aelyx’s cat (cat thingy??) Vero!! I kind of love that he was a jerk to Cara at first and slowly warmed up to her :D Cats will be cats, no matter what planet they’re on…
Jaxen creeped me the hell out! I knew there was something fishy going on with him. And his sister. I so did not like her!
I really loved the side romance between David and Syrine. That was unexpected, but totally adorable! I love that Syrine pretty much hated him, like all humans, and he slowly broke through her ice cold exterior. They were so cute together! View Spoiler » I also love the idea of a l’ihan!
