food

Oh man, where do I start? Well, I love food. *looks at figure* Obviously, haha. Unfortunately, I love all the bad-for-you food and hate almost all healthy food. I’ve been trying for a while to eat healthier, but I keep slipping :( I did manage to give up Mountain Dew, though, which was a big deal for me!

Fun fact: I don’t cook. Not that I can’t, I just don’t. I don’t like doing it at all! I’m perfectly capable of cooking – as long as I have a recipe to follow, I probably won’t screw it up. I don’t burn things (unless I get distracted and walk away from it) and I’ve never had anything I made end up disastrous or disgusting. I do bake sometimes, though! I’m good at that!

I’m a very picky eater. I don’t like very many vegetables at all. I hate tomatoes and onions with a passion, and 95% of healthy food has one or the other, sadly. I do like peas, lima beans (to an extent), potatoes, field peas, black-eyed peas, and raw carrots (smothered in ranch). I’m not a fan of broccoli but can eat it on occasion if it has ranch. I hate celery (nasty texture!) and green beans. (Funny story: I used to like green beans until the year that my dad planted too many in the garden and we ate them almost every night for about 2 years straight. Now I can’t even stand the sight of them!) I do love fruit as long as it’s not cooked. There’s something about the texture of cooked fruit that grosses me out! Which means: I don’t like most pie. I know, shocking! I’m actually not that big of a fan of cake, either, unless it’s really good cake with a certain kind of icing. I don’t like chocolate cake!

I love spicy, salty, and sweet. I have a pretty high tolerance for spicy stuff, I love it! I like salty snacks, but I love sweet snacks even more. Donuts, sweet rolls, pretty much anything bakery style I love! But not hard candy. For some reason I was never a huge fan of candy. I do like most chocolate candy – such as Almond Joy, Reese, Kit Kat, and Snickers (my favorite is Take 5!) – but only in small doses.

My favorite food ever is bread. Strange, right? But I’m the person that will steal all of the dinner rolls at Thanksgiving and Christmas because I could make a meal out of them alone. I love going to places like Texas Roadhouse, Olive Garden, and Fazoli’s that offer free unlimited breadsticks and rolls! Yum! (Although, I don’t really care for biscuits. It’s all about the texture!)

I also love cheese. The more cheese, the better! I love super cheesy pasta. And lately I’ve had a strange obsession with grilled shrimp, especially in pasta!

Honestly I could go on and on about food, but that would just get boring ;)

  1. Food is probably the best topic of ever. It is. IT IS THE AWESOMENESS OF LIFE. I hate beans too, though. My mum goes on some weird diet fads that we must follow (or starve) and we ate like green beans as a sole vegetable for 6 months. And pears were the sole fruit. I HATE pears now. And I’m not fond of beans. But I’ve always hated peas. Ew. Just ew.

    Cheese is life.

  2. Bread! How could I have forgotten bread? I love it too – any place with free endless bread is high on my list too. But I love love love pie too. That could be because my dad loves pie and I grew up with my mom making it fairly regularly complete with home made crust. Yum!

Oh man, I’m like so hungry now!

  3. I hate, loathe, despise, and abominate onions. But I love tomatoes, but only cooked or blended really well in salsa (no chunky salsa with onions and tomatoes, blech). And BREAD. NO. NOT weird, LOL. I would rather have bread than chocolate. But I would also rather have pie than chocolate, so . . .

  4. I’m a huge food addict :) I can never stay on a diet longer than a month, lol. I love me some bread too! I could never give up my bread, pasta, potatoes or pop!

  5. Super cheesy pasta <333 Lol I can also cook as long as there's a recipe I can follow, but I don't do much of it because my family does it and leaves me to the eating :))

  6. I hate pie! LOL! Coding God doesn’t think I’m human because of it.

And YES! Spicy ftw! I’m so addicted to curry and Nandos—both awesomely spicy meals. I used to love hard candy, but I think I’m off it now. It just seems so not appealing for some reason. I’m on board with what you like though: chocolate, donuts, other baked goods, etc.

Right now curry is my favourite meal. I totally get the sauce from a jar, but whatevs. We have this awesome spicy curry sauce that we buy and we do that with rice, chicken, and naan bread, and it’s DELIIIIISH!

  7. YES on the cheese! I love so many things that I couldn’t list them all, so my list is only the things that I just cannot, will not eat ;)

I’m also not much of a cook … I managed to make a complete mess of Kraft Dinner the other night, much to my husband’s amusement! He’s the chef of the family, and I do a mean job of cleaning up the kitchen afterwards =P

  8. This is my kind of topic haha! I can’t cook either, so you’re definitely not alone there! And cooked fruit completely grosses me out too, when I’m offered crumble at someone’s house it literally makes me feel so ill. Nice post! I look forward to next week’s!

  9. I am SO WITH YOU on onions and tomatoes. My roommate laughs at me because I love chips and salsa… juice. My preferred way of eating salsa is to dip the chip, shake off everything but the salsa juice and enjoy. :)

Bread, cheese and salty foods are awesome. I would choose salty food over sweet pretty much any day of the week. :)

  10. Haha omg I love tomatoes and onions! I’ve been trying to eat a lot more healthy and natural recently, so I’ve been eating a LOT of veggies and fruits instead of my normal goldfish/ice cream combo for snacks. (also because I’ve been getting home around 7/8 on most days that I can’t even eat a snack because then it’s dinner time) But I LOVE bread. When my grandma used to live with me, she would bake homemade bread and I’d literally eat half a loaf as soon as it came out of the oven :)

  11. I can cook chicken, fish, turkey, pork chops. I don’t like vegtables, I love fruit. I don’t drink soda. I can cook cake, brownies, cookies but they all come from a box and have the same ingridents.

  12. Finally someone else who isn’t such a fan of cake and pie! I’m a huge fan of candies and anything that is sweet, but there is something about cake that I don’t like.. Donuts though <3 and brownies + chocolate cookies, yum! I also love fruit, but don't like it cooked. Onions are GROSS. I do love vegetables. The only thing I really don't eat is sour crout. It literally makes me vomit.

  13. I don’t like pie either. The texture just isn’t right and feels kind of like waste to me. And I only eat cake and ice cream if they are amazing. Otherwise, I’d rather eat something like candy or chips or cookies. And I don’t think it’s weird at all to love bread. Restaurant rolls are the best!

  14. Oh my gosh, cheese and bread? I could definitely live off the two! Haha

I’m a super fussy eater too; the only veggies I can do are celery and carrots, covered in ranch. And corn (if that counts as a veggie??)

And cooked fruit is just not something I can do. It’s totally a texture thing for me!
