My thoughts
Aw man, Julie never disappoints! I always forget how much I miss this world until I step back into it again. I love it so much! I’m not much of a fan of fae stories these days, but I love the way Julie writes them.
I’m sad to see this series end, but what a wonderful end it was! I looove how twisted the world was. The carnival tent in the Between was totally creepy! I was definitely cringing at the clown, ha. I think that was my favorite scene though. Kudos, Julie, on bringing the demented faery world to life!
“Oh goodie,” said Grimalkin, rising from the branch. “And now we have picked up the dog. I will inform the Iron Queen of your imminent arrival, and to prepare for the smell.”
He waved his tail once and was gone. Razor bared his teeth in the direction the cat had been and hissed. “Evil, bad kitty,” the gremlin muttered. “Tie rock to tail and throw in lake, ha!”
The Wolf chuckled in approval. “At least one of you has good taste.”
I freaking loved seeing Grim and Wolf in action together again, just like The Iron Knight. They are hilarious! Their banter had me laughing out loud and hugging the book to my chest. Grimalkin is one of my favorite characters ever, I love his sarcastic cat-ness so much!! (I so want to get a gray kitty and name it after him.)
“I see you managed to locate the Summer girl and the amulet,” the cat said, sounding as if he had doubted our ability to accomplish that. “And the dog remembered his end of the bargain and did not bite anyone’s head off out of habit. I suppose wonders never cease.”
“Don’t be a sore loser, cat. Remember, you had to ask for my help. I look forward to reminding you of that every opportunity.”
“Hmph,” Grimalkin sniffed, looking bored. “I suppose the less intelligent have to reassure themselves however they can.”
I know I still have the Talon books to look forward to, but I’m really hoping Julie will write another book set in Faery in the future! (Or, you know, a spin off series all about Grim ;D)
