Last week’s topic: Fears

This week’s topic: Fitness

This is a bit of a tough subject for me, and something that I’ve struggled with probably my whole life. I’ve never been a very athletic person, and physical things don’t come easy to me.

I’ve had a gym membership to my local ladies’ gym for at least 6 or 7 years now. The sad part is, I don’t use it much. I’ll get really gung-ho about going for maybe a couple of months, and then I just…stop going. Life gets in the way. There’s so many things I’d rather be doing, so I just get busy and can’t seem to find the time for it, even though I know I need to make time.

That being said, I do enjoy working out. It releases a lot of endorphins, so I feel great afterward even if I’m sweaty and exhausted. I feel like I actually accomplished something! I also really love my gym: It has a tanning bed, a pool, a hot tub, a sauna, and a steam room, and all of that is included in my monthly membership of $15. It also has free daycare – which doesn’t matter now, but it will be nice when the time comes that I do have kids.

As I talked about in last week’s Heartbeat Weekly, I want to start going more often because I feel like I need to take better care of myself, and as of lately I’ve been getting pretty chunky. I also need to start eating better!

Next week’s topic: Where were you 13 years ago?

  1. I’m horrible when it comes to fitness.. I’m not an athletic person and I always have a hard time GOING to something. Once I’m there and I’m done, I feel fantastic and energetic; I look forward to the next time. But when I’m home again and I’m lazy on the couch, it’s so hard to pick myself up to go again. I really need someone to motivate me, so hopefully it will work out this time, since I’m going to the gym with my sister :)

    • I am EXACTLY the same way! It feels great to be there, I feel accomplished when I’m done, but then it’s a massive effort to draaaag myself there the next time. It makes NO sense!

  2. Living on campus has motivated me a lot to work out. I’m the healthiest I have ever been during my teen years. Me and my friends started going to zumba 3 times a week and we hope to continue. I want to add swimming in there as well, but haven’t made it to the pool yet. I would like to throw in a couple of runs a week.

    • That’s awesome! I tried Zumba once, but I couldn’t keep up (I think I made the mistake of hitting up an experienced class) – they moved from one thing to the next without any explanation and by the time I figured out one move they had already started on another. I was so discouraged that I never tried again =/

  3. I’m so bad when it comes to fitness as well. Sometimes, I go through the app store and download new apps to help me out but I always end up giving up on them. I just got the Noom Coach and paid for the 3 month subscription so I’m hoping that since I paid for it, I’ll have to stick to it. Good luck!

  4. I love working out! Especially because I am on a basketball team, and it’s a great team sport where everyone has to give 110%! So I love it <3 I cycle whenever I want to get anywhere as well, which helps. I want to do minute work outs at home by myself, because I don't have training every day. But time, there is never enough D:

  5. I’m always over excited when I finally do work out because yes, happy endorphin! It’s unfortunate I don’t do it enough. It’s awesome that you found a gym that you really like, even if it’s only for a few months a year ;)
