It got in us.

After receiving an urgent SOS from a work detail on a distant planet, a skeleton crew is dispatched to perform a standard search-and-rescue mission.

Most are dead.

But when the crew arrives, they find an abandoned site, littered with rotten food, discarded weapons…and dead bodies.

Don't set foot here again.

As they try to piece together who—or what—could have decimated an entire operation, they discover that some things are best left buried—and some monsters are only too ready to awaken.

My thoughts

It’s been a while since I read this, so this will be a short review. But I really enjoyed it! This one was SUPER creepy, I loved that about it! It had a very strong Alien meets Pitch Black feel to it (which basically means it was awesome). It was incredibly fast paced and cinematic! I loved the mystery to it in the beginning – you don’t know much about what’s going on, and it keeps you interested. This would make such a great movie!

The world building was fabulous – I loved the way Bowman set everything up. It felt so realistic! And the contagion part of it was so cool! I don’t want to say much else because I don’t want to spoil anything. I went in knowing little to nothing about what was going on and that’s part of the intrigue – figuring things out for yourself!

I loved the little snippets we got of the boy in the beginning! It tied the story together nicely and kept it moving. The only real complaint I have about this one is that I didn’t connect emotionally as well as I’d hoped. When things happened I didn’t really feel much of anything.

I don’t have much else to say about this one other than I enjoyed it and you should definitely give it a go!

  1. OOh nice! I pretty much picked this on up on a whim! Really I think it was that I saw Stephanie Garber give it high compliments and then I read its description and then immediately went to B&N that weekend! LOL! It sounds like a nice creepy read and I love a good creepy read! Glad you enjoyed it too! Nice review!
