top10coversHosted by Two Chicks on Books

*ONLY books released in 2013

1. Parasite by Mira Grant
This cover is so simple but it’s one of my favorite covers, ever. 1) it’s red, of course I’m going to love it and 2) I love that it actually looks like a pill packet, with one removed. It’s visually appealing to me in some undefinable way, and it’s relevant to the story!

2. Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea by April Genevieve Tucholke
love the cover of this book. The font is gorgeous, the scene is dark and creepy, and red is my favorite color so I love that ‘devil’ is in red font. Too bad I hated the book :(

3. Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo
This cover is amazing. I love the gray background and the waves, the font is epic, and I absolutely LOVE the dragon coiling through the words. And, of  course, the red. It really is a shame that I don’t like this series because I kind of want to buy the books just because the covers are so pretty!

4. City of a Thousand Dolls by Miriam Forster
The statues look epic!! I love that the girl is in the middle with her blades, she looks like a badass! The font is pretty and it’s cool that the symbols of the houses are on the front cover (and red)!

5. Kinslayer by Jay Kristoff
1), Yukiko looks like a total badass and the designs on her arm are gorgeous (and red), and 2) BURUU!!! Plus I love the font!

6. Splintered by A.G. Howard
I usually find covers with girls cliche, but I think the model is pretty and I love how wild she looks. The vines and bugs look awesome and the font is amazing (and red)!

7. Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi
It’s kind of creepy, but I think the way the eye is designed is simply beautiful with the frozen tears and the birds! Plus the font is simple but appealing. I love how all of her covers are very similar but have their own differences, they look awesome together!

8. The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey
The scene is creepy yet simple, and I love the light flare coming through the trees. Plus I think it’s awesome that there’s the shape of an owl in the trees, it’s kind of a mind f*ck! I would have never seen it if someone hadn’t told me about it!

9. Not a Drop to Drink by Mindy McGinnis
I love how the color fades to gray, how the words are just chilling in the middle of the scene, and how the word ‘drink’ reflects off of the water like it’s actually in the scenery. And how she’s standing on the roof. The photography is  so visually appealing!

10. These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner
I would probably love anything with stars in the background. I like how they’re reaching for each other, and her dress is gorgeous. Plus I adore the font, it’s perfect! I hate that they changed the font on another version of the cover.

Honorable Mention

  1. Yes I totally agree with all of the books that you chose! I love Splintered and Unravel Me’s cover totally IS creepy but at the same time amazing. I always thought that after all this time cover artists would stop coming up with such amazing covers for their books, but I’m wrong every year :)

  2. Awesome choices! Of those, I love:

Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea
    Siege and Storm
    City of a Thousand Dolls
    Kinslayer
    Splintered
    These Broken Stars
    Poison

  3. Trayche

I love all of these covers! I think that Unravel Me is my favorite!! I’ve never seen the cover (never heard of the book either) of Parasite. How awesome it looks? I need to read that.

  4. Cee

I will forever loooovee the cover of These Broken Stars. It’s so epic! Those twinkling stars and that dress billowing out, so gorgeous. This is a space cover done right. I love that the dragon on the Siege and Storm cover is essentially part of the font. I love the detail in Kinslayer. I have yet to read the book, but I know it’ll be fucking badass. Covers without a model are always an A+ to me. :D

  5. Splintered is hands down one of my favorite covers of the year. Not a Drop to Drink has such a clever cover, definitely one of the best ones I’ve ever seen. Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea does have a creepy cover but there’s so much to it. As for Unravel Me, I LOVE those eyelashes. But all of those covers are GREAT picks!

  6. I love all of these! The Shatter Me series has me in love from the cover designs alone; they’re so creative and intricate and I just love to look at them. *sighs* I’m going to have to check some of these out, especially Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea. They all look fantastic!
