Hi y’all! I’m Molli from Once Upon a Prologue! I’m a Southern girl born and raised in Tennessee where the autumns are gorgeous and the summer nights last forever. I’m an extremely geeky, enthusiastic blogger and on any given day you can find me finding something new to nerd out over. My platonic TV soul mates are Sheldon Cooper, and Rory Gilmore, and my fictional soul mate is Anna Oliphant from Anna and the French Kiss. I spend way too much time listening for the TARDIS to land, and stalking online deals to add more books to my already crowded bookshelf. I’m friendly and outgoing, and this year I’m celebrating the first anniversary of my 27th birthday. I love love love making: new friends, playlists, and good memories.
How long have you been blogging? What made you want to start a book blog?
I’ve been blogging for a little over 2 years. I was frustrated with not having many people in my life that I could talk about my love of reading with and NOT have them think I was weird for reading so much. My friend Suz at A Soul Unsung had just started a book blog and I thought it would be fun to start one, too!
What do you do when you’re not blogging or reading?
I can be found: marathoning Doctor Who or Supernatural, swimming in my pool (it’s summer here for sure, so thank goodness for that pool), spending time with family or with my pets (two dogs and one kitty furbaby), going out with friends, or working out at the gym!
What is your favorite part about blogging? Least favorite?
My favorite part is connecting with other bloggers, and the friendships I’ve made. My least favorite part is all the drama.
Where did you come up with the name for your blog?
Honestly, I was thinking about book terms and how I’m such a romantic and a dreamer and I thought of “Once Upon a Time,” then started plugging in book terms, and “Once Upon a Prologue” just stuck!
Do you have any specific book bloggers that inspire you?
YES! Marie at Ramblings of a Daydreamer, Ashley at Nose Graze, Jess at Thoughts at One In the Morning, and so many others.
What do you look for in a blog when following? What are your pet peeves?
I’m sorta sneaky, because when I’m considering following a blog, I always go see what they thought of a few of my favorite books. We don’t have to have both loved it/them, but for some reason, I find reading a few of their reviews of books I’ve read helps me get a feel for how they review, and their taste in books. So I look for somewhat similiar taste, a clean layout without lots of annoying music or sound effect widgets and a navigation I can follow, reviews that are well formatted (and by that I mean they can be fun reviews, just please no crazy tYpInG or weird blinding colors), and I always scope out their “About Me” page to get a sense of who they are to figure out if we’ll get along. And basically, the nerdier he/she is, the greater the chances of that!

Well, looking quickly at my top shelf on my bookshelf which houses a few favorites… Temepst by Julie Cross, The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger, Time Between Us by Tamara Ireland Stone, Saving June by Hannah Harrington, The Archived by Victoria Schwab, The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss, If You Find Me by Emily Murdoch, Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver – and so many others.

What is the biggest turn off for you when you’re reading a book?
Poor storytelling, and that can be anything from insta-love that never developes past that, a love-triangle that doesn’t make sense, or random plot twists that don’t need to be in the book/etc. Also shaming – I recently had to DNF a book because of that.
What first draws you to a book to make you want to read it?
Honestly? It’s a mix of cover/synopsis. A lot of times I’ll look at a book because the cover catches my eye, but then there also has to be an amazing synopsis.

Name a random fact about yourself.
I was born about three months premature and weighed 1 pound and 12 ounces!
Do you have a job? If so, what do you do?
Not currently, but I’m looking!
What did you want to be when you were little? Has that changed?
I wanted to be a geologist when I was little, and I don’t want to be anymore, so yes, that’s changed. I’ve wanted to be a writer since I was 14 though, and I’m actively working on that now!

Fantastic interview, Molli and Jessi! I love how you go through people’s blogs when deciding to follow them, that actually sounds like such a smart way to go about that and I definitely think you could find some amazing blogs through that process alone. Also, I totally agree with you on the insta love bit, and the love triangle and plot twists. I think that it just seriously detracts from the overall quality of a book, honestly.
