Books I got this week
Bought:
- Snape Funko Pop! Vinyl
After Alan Rickman died, the prices of these skyrocketed! I was panicking because I didn’t think I’d be able to find one at normal price again, so when I saw this one on eBay for $11 I jumped on it. (And of course now they’re back to normal price. Sigh.) Now I have Harry and Snape, I can’t WAIT until the Luna and Sirius ones come out! I will have the whole collection one day :D
From the signing:
- Winter by Marissa Meyer (Target Special Edition) signed
- Stars Above by Marissa Meyer, signed
- “Iko approved” sticker

What I’ve been up to this week:
The only exciting thing I have to report is that I got my hair done!! I did a little dog-sitting for a customer at work and she paid me with a trip to the hair salon! Wheeee!! And it turned out EPIC:
When Aarika (my stylist) showed me the photo of the back, I seriously didn’t realize it was me at first! Then I was like, “Is that…me?!” I’m amazed at how it turned out! I feel like a mermaid XD
I’ve been wanting to do blue forever but never had the guts to do it…I’m so glad I finally did, I love it!
Marissa Meyer signing
I meant to post this recap earlier, but I got busy and forgot!
This was my first experience participating in a ticketed event at Joseph Beth. The only other ticketed event I’ve ever been to (well, at least one where they actually enforced it because there were a lot of people) was Karen Marie Moning in Newport. I certainly wasn’t expecting it to be so insane! There were TONS of people there. The main floor of JB was absolutely packed! (To give you an idea of how packed: each group had 25 people and I was in group G!) Everyone was standing around the stairway and Marissa stood on the stairs to speak to us.
I got there a little early, so I had to wait around for a bit. I talked to a girl that coincidentally was also named Marissa, who has the blog Growing Up Booknerd. She was super nice! We made bookish conversation to pass the time while we waited, until her group was called.
Marissa Meyer opened by telling us a fairy tale – the original story of the Little Mermaid. If you didn’t know, it is pretty much nothing like Disney’s version. As Marissa put it, Disney lied about a lot of things, haha. It was fun to hear her tell it, though! I also learned that I’ve been pronouncing some characters’ names wrong – I always read Iko as “eye-ko” but Marissa pronounced it “ee-ko” like ecosystem. (Does not compute!!) Also, in my head I was pronouncing Jacin as “juh-seen” and it’s pronounced just like the boy’s name Jason. Oopsie. It’s really awkward for me to say them the right way now >.<
The line took FOREVER. I was the very last group! Each group took roughly a half hour, and like I said, I was group freaking G. Marissa came out a little after 3, the line started by 3:30, and by the time my group finally got called it was about 5:30. They called each group one at a time and you couldn’t line up before your group was called, so I sat around in the YA section reading for a bit. Even after my group was called, I still stood in line for an hour! By the time I finally reached Marissa it was 6:45. (Oh, and did I mention I was missing my Panthers in the Super Bowl?! I was totally watching on the NFL app on my phone) Marissa was super nice! She personalized both my books without batting an eyelash (we were only supposed to do one personalization. What can I say, I’m a rebel) and signed my poster as well, even though they said she wouldn’t be signing any memorabilia. And I snagged an awesome “Iko approved” sticker that now lives on my Mac!
I have zero funko dolls. I need to change that but I’m broke so *sob* Also, that signing looks so much fun. :D
YOUR HAIR IS AMAZING OMG!!! It’s so gorgeous!!
Your hair is the best thing ever! I would LOVE to do something like that some day!!
OOoh nice! I loooove you hair Jessi! It’s so pretty!
Glad to hear you had a good time at Marissa’s signing earlier this month! I remember seeing your recap or tweets about waiting so long! And on Super Bowl Sunday! I remembered debating about going to this signing despite a 6 hour drive, but eventually decided to pass and ordered a signed copy elsewhere! Seems like it was a safe decision after all!
Here’s my STS
Have a GREAT day!

THAT HAIR! STELLAR! You LOOK like a mermaid!! People always ask me if I get highlights or dye my hair, and I’ve never done anything chemically to my hair besides a perm in 7th grade (worst mistake, although once it grew out I had silky washboard straight hair – I hardly ever touched a brush throughout high school!). I’ve been tempted to go red (ish), but I’m too scared.
I also have zero funko dolls. I must gets some. Although, the mess about prices skyrocketing after Alan’s death makes me a little mad, cashing in on the loss of his life.
Are Snape funkos no longer sold in stores?
Love the new hairdo, the coloring is so vibrant!
Marissa Meyer is an author I’ve already wanted to meet but never had the chance to, her signing looks great and the swag is awesome!
I love your hair! It is so pretty!! I agree just like a mermaid!! That is so exciting you got to meet Marissa Meyer! What a great week!
