DESTRUCTION
The Year of Souls begins with an earthquake—an alarming rumble from deep within the earth—and it’s only the first of greater dangers to come. The Range caldera is preparing to erupt. Ana knows that as Soul Night approaches, everything near Heart will be at risk.

FLIGHT
Ana’s exile is frightening, but it may also be fortuitous, especially if she can convince her friends to flee Heart and Range with her. They’ll go north, seeking answers and allies to stop Janan’s ascension. And with any luck, the newsouls will be safe from harm’s reach.

CHOICE
The oldsouls might have forgotten the choice they made to give themselves limitless lifetimes, but Ana knows the true cost of reincarnation. What she doesn’t know is whether she’ll have the chance to finish this one sweet life with Sam, especially if she returns to Heart to stop Janan once and for all.

My thoughts

“Do you love me?”
He spoke without hesitation, without the usual line of thought between his eyes. “Infinitely.”

What a fabulous end to a unique trilogy! I must confess that the beginning was a little slow for me. I had a little trouble getting into it…then the dragons made an appearance, and I was hooked!

I love the world in the Newsoul series. It’s very original, and Jodi does a great job at bringing it to life! It was even better in this book with the addition of the dragons. I also got my wish from the last book – to see more of the sylph! I loved that they had an important part in the final chapter of the series. I thought the way they communicated was awesome! The dragons, too!

I adored Ana even more in this book – she was brave and fearless! She did anything she felt she had to do to protect the people she cared about.

I freaking loved the ending! So totally sweet and perfect! I don’t have much else to say about this book other than I enjoyed it; but with dragons and sylph and phoenixes, what’s not to like?

  1. Yay I’m glad that you loved this one so much! These covers are always so attractive and I actually didn’t enjoy the first book so I never chose to pursue the series, but I love books that further develop the world with each new book. I may need to give the second book a whirl soon to see if my opinion of it’s changed yet. Fantastic review, Jessi! <33

  2. YAAAY DRAGONS!! My one real piece of criticism from the second book was the lack of dragons, so I’m thrilled to see that they make an appearance in this one! Awesome review. :) Hopefully I’ll get a chance to read this soon!

  3. Hmmmm…I never really got much into the first book so I kind of doubt I’ll ever make an effort to finish the series since I wasn’t a big fan of Incarnate. But I’m glad it finished well for you!! I love it when trilogies leave us with a fantastic conclusion. :D

  4. I’m a little nervous that it’s slow to start – I’ve enjoyed this series so far, but not enough to say I’m a big fan of the series. But dragons?! That might be motivation enough to keep reading! And I’d love to get more info on the sylph.

  5. Sad for that lack of feels, but I really like that you like this one! :D

I have the first book in TBR but those covers are just so memorable! I’ve heard such great things about this series and I have so much excitement to start reading it! :D
