Leanne at Literary Excursion is hosting this lovely event! All month long will feature all kinds of exciting Halloween-ish stuffs!
What you can expect here at ASR for Horror October:
- A couple of YA horror reviews
- Discussion about horror in YA
- A list of horror novels I’ve read
- Discussion about horror movies
- A list of my favorite horror movies
To get into the spirit, I’ve compiled a list of YA horror novels to read:
- Between the Devil & the Deep Blue Sea by April Genevieve Tucholke
- The Farm by Emily McKay
- Murmurings by Carly Anne West
- Rot & Ruin by Jonathan Maberry
- Feed by Mira Grant
- The First Days by Rhiannon Frater
- Lockdown by Alexander Gordon Smith
- Dark Inside by Jeyn Roberts
- Ashes by Ilsa J. Bick
- Insomnia by J.R. Johansson
These are just some ideas. I definitely won’t get to all of these, but I’d like to read at least 1 or 2 of them this month!
That’s a pretty interesting list of books! I keep seeing Rot and Ruin and wanting to pick it up, but something tells me I won’t like it. Curious to see what you think of it.
Oh, and the sign-ups closed at the end of last month. I decided it was going to be too hectic this month running my first event if people were still joining part of the way through. :x
I’m not a big fan of zombie books, but we will see! Unfortunately, the majority of the ones I picked are zombie books lmao. Maybe I can find one I’ll actually love!
Eep! Okay, I’ll fix it :)
Lol thanks for fixing that!
You know, I thought I was totally over zombies so I was shying away from the one I’m currently reading (This Is Not a Test) and the last one I read (The Forest of Hands and Teeth). Both really only have the zombies as a plot device and they aren’t the main focus. In both I can totally sympathize with the characters and feel so terrible that they’re going through what they are, because it’s always so much crap piled on top of the world falling into chaos. And in both the writing is beautiful. I hope at least one of your zombie picks turns out like that. :)
Awesome list there, Jessi! Hope you don’t scare yourself too much ;) I am also doing a similar Halloween event on my co-blog, never knew Halloween with was THIS big in the US, we don’ really celebrate in AUS.
Happy reading, luv! <33
Thanks! I’m actually hoping that some of them WILL scare me, since that’s nearly impossible >.< Wait you have a co-blog?! What is it?? And that's so sad! I love Halloween :(
I’m reading Feed right now! :) The farm was good, especially the twist at the ending. I really want to read Between the devil and the deep blue sea and Rot & ruin. I’ve heard some disappointing things about The murmurings (still love the cover <3) Happy reading and I'm looking forward to all your October posts!
Can’t wait to read any of those! Yeah, I’ve heard some not-so-great things about Murmurings too, hopefully it doesn’t disappoint me!
Thanks Mel :)
I really want to read Insomnia!!
I can’t wait to read your review of Between the Devil & the Deep Blue Sea! I think that one sounds good!
Great list! I loved Feed. And Rot&Ruin was great too. I just <3 zombie books. Haven't read the others, but the cover of Dark Inside makes me want to check it out :)
Amazing list. I’m a fan of horror movies. It is weird but I haven’t read a lot of horror book so, I look forward to your reviews.
I like your selction. Got many of them. I’m going to be reading and reviewing a lot of horror this month too!
Lockdown sounds super interesting..
