Hello loverlies!
So, most of you (okay, maybe just some of you) know that I switched to WordPress last month. I was more than ready to switch, despite all the stress and worrying…but the ONE thing I wasn’t happy about was the loss of Google Friend Connect. I know numbers shouldn’t matter, but I worked hard for those 1400 followers, dammit! (And I really missed all you GFC followers *hugs followers to bosom*)
But alas, I was willing to make the sacrifice. Because WordPress really is waaaay better than Blogger. But yesterday, I stumbled across this gorgeous blog (and my inner dialogue went along the lines of this: WOW, that’s a beautiful design, must be WordPress…but wait, there’s GFC…no way is this a Blogger layout! WAIT. It IS WordPress! How did she get GFC on WordPress?! How can I do that?!?!!), so I tweeted at Kelly and asked how she did it. She sent me a link to a full tutorial on how to do it, so I thought I’d share the link! Without her I would have never known I could keep it, and I want everyone else to know as well. Because for many of you wanting to make the switch, that’s one of the biggest things holding you back. So thank you Kelly for being so helpful! I also want to give a MAJOR THANK YOU to Maria at Miss Drifted Snow White for putting the tutorial together. You rock!
Anyway, here’s the link to the tutorial:
5 Steps to Get/Keep GFC of WordPress at Miss Drifted Snow White
*In step 1, you don’t have to use FeedCat. Feedburner works too!
For those of you thinking about switching from Blogger to WordPress, GO FOR IT! Seriously. You won’t regret it. :)
I love how having GFC on WordPress confused you so much Jessi! ;D
When I moved from Blogger to WordPress, several of my friends were like Kelly, I thought you moved to WordPress; how come you still have GFC on your blog?
But seriously, we need to spread the word that you CAN have GFC on WordPress! :D
Tehee! I had never heard of a WP blog having it before! We really do indeed!!
Yay! *throws confetti* This could help sway lots of people considering the jump to WordPress…including me. :)
THAT IS LEGITTTTTT. I’m SO PUMPED FOR YOU! You totally earned those followers!!!
and there is now the fact that I will be able to keep mine whenever I switch. Haha. *happy dance*

I have been seeing this hack around. Not sure what if there really would be a point for us to add GFC back. Glad you got it working though. But FYI, it doesn’t show up on Chrome.
I have Chrome and it works just fine…maybe it just hadn’t loaded on your computer.
I’m considering doing this, but then again I LIKE not having GFC, and I keep hearing that it may go away soon. So I’m on the fence. But thanks so much for sharing, chica!
SO HAPPY FOR YOU RIGHT NOW! >.< Glad you have your followers back ;)
Now I am definitely considering the change from Blogger to WordPress more harshly. Damn this. Thanks for sharing Jessi <3
It’s great that you got your followers back! I can understand that it’s painful when you lose those followers.
I’m so happy you got your followers back! :) *hugs*
This made my day (yesterday when I read it). I’m making the switch to WordPress this week
and the one thing I didn’t like was losing my GFC followers because like you
said, we worked hard for those! I’m so
planning on getting this for when I switch over. Very excited to make the switch…but also
scared out of my mind.
Oh yay! I’m so excited for you!! I’m SO happy to be over here now and I know you’re going to love it. It’s waaaay better than Blogger! Best of luck in the switch, if you need any help or just moral support, I’ll be here!
