I typically hate making New Year’s resolutions because it’s my belief that you should do so throughout the whole year, but I do still love them because it’s good motivation and something to look back on to see if I’ve accomplished my goals! READING RESOLUTIONS Read more than last year. I really wanted to get to 100 books in 2019, but I didn’t even make it to 75. I’d love to get back to reading 100 books a year – I used […]

Last year I saw Cristina @ Girl in the Pages post about her 5 star reading drought (which was originally inspired by Lauren @ Bookmark Lit’s post here), and I thought it was such a great post, so I did one of my own! It was really interesting to see what me 5 star reads looked like for last year, and I definitely want to start doing it every year! 5 star books of 2019 This number is usually low since […]

Empire of the Vampire by Jay Kristoff – First of all, there’s no Jay book I would never NOT want desperately to get my hands on. I need to know what happens! Aurora Burning by Jay Kristoff & Amie Kaufman – Um, Aurora Rising […]

You know, the sobbing, snotting, can’t-breathe-feeling-of-despair crying. That doesn’t happen very often for me, and I may […]

5 Standalones That Deserve a Sequel

5 Standalones That Deserve a Sequel

Last week I talked about sequels that didn’t live up to the first book. This week, I want to highlight a few amazing standalones that I desperately wished DID have a sequel! (Is there no middle ground?!)   Stain – This book sent me into such a slump, it’s one of my favorites! Definitely my favorite standalone. I desperately need more of the characters and world! Words cannot describe how incredible the world is! Sorcery of Thorns – Another one that […]

Do you ever read a book and LOVE it – then you wait in desperate anticipation for months for the sequel, only to read it and be totally let down? Happens to me ALL. THE. TIME. What is it with Second Book Syndrome? Here’s a few that I gave very different ratings to the second book as compared to the first: Do you agree with any of these? What sequels were you disappointed by?
