Meet Lisseth!
HI! I’m Lisseth, I’m 19, and I currently live in the New York. I am currently trying to figure out what to do with my life but hopefully it includes books. I’m a college student and the blogger behind Read-A-holicZ. I’m also a graphic junkie so I do FREE blog designs, I am an addicted book reader, and I like to speak my mind a lot!

How long have you been blogging? What made you want to start a book blog?

I have been blogging for a year and two months now. I started blogging because I wanted to join in on the blogging community and also because my sister couldn’t take me going on & on about the books I had just read and loved :P

What do you do when you’re not blogging or reading?

Hmm, most of the time I’m reading BUT I love to listen to music and go shopping! I also like to paint and write. I’m always creating something. I’m also mostly at home taking care of my younger siblings.

What is your favorite part about blogging? Least favorite?

My favorite part about blogging is writing down all of MY opinions and then hearing that someone else had the same feelings about the book, that connection; that’s what I love.

My least favorite has to be the getting down and actually trying to get my thoughts about a book down onto a post. I am more a talkative person when I talk about books, so getting it down on cyber-paper was tough for me.

Where did you come up with the name for your blog?

Ah, that’s pretty easy. I went through this HUGE book reading binge in the summer before I started my senior year of high school. I knew I wouldn’t have time during school. So I literally inhaled books. I read between 5-7 books a week and made a trip to the library every weekend. I had books on hold and they always had them right at the front for me to just pick up. So I read 200 books that summer. My sister said I was addicted to books and when I was coming up with a name she suggested READ-A-HOLICZ. Since I’m an addicted reader :)

[Jessi] 5-7 a week, holy crap! That’s impressive O_O

Do you have any specific book bloggers that inspire you?

Yes I do! Kathy from I am a Reader, Not a Writer is a HUGE inspiration to me. She was one of my first followers and her support by just doing that was awesome.

What do you look for in a blog when following? What are your pet peeves?

When I follow, I look at their content. I really don’t care about the way it looks, as long as it has great/funny/interesting reviews/posts then I’ll follow them.

My pet peeves, if were talking about blogs, I would have to say if there reviews are one paragraph short and only restate the book summary, then they give it a 5 star but don’t really explain why, that makes me not follow them.

[Jessi] That’s a peeve of mine, too! If I wanted to know what the book was about, I’d read the synopsis on Goodreads…

What’s your favorite book(s)?

My favorite books….I have TOO MANY! But I can list a few top series I <3 : Uglies, Dark-Hunter, The Mortal instruments, Blue Bloods, Strange Angels, Chronicles of Nick, The Hunger Games, Vampire Academy, The Virals Series, and I could really go on and on but those are on my top favorites list.

[Jessi] YOU KNOW VIRALS?! Dude. Nobody ever knows what I’m talking about when I mention them! Seizure was ahhmaziiiiing :)

Favorite author?

Oh, that’s a hard one. But I think I’ll go with the ones that introduced me to YA and Adult books. So the awesome Scott Westerfeld for making me love reading in general and young adult books. Then I have the fabulous Sherrilyn Kenyon, who introduced me to adult books.

What is the biggest turn off for you when you’re reading a book?

I would have to say if the story is slow and the characters boring, then I’ll just stop reading. But the biggest would be if the book doesn’t evoke some type of emotion from me then I’ll drop it cold. I really need that connection with the book to read it. No matter if it’s love or hate, I just need to connect.

What first draws you to a book to make you want to read it?

I am a summary girl. I don’t really look at the cover. I usually look at the story. If it has action, romance, emotion then I’ll pick it up and read a few pages.

Describe yourself in 3 words.

Friendly, opinionated, creative.

Name a random fact about yourself.

One random fact is that I was born with a bone in my neck that literally grew and created a hole in my throat. I had to be operated so now I have a piece of metal in its place.

Do you have a job? If so, what do you do?

None that are permanent. I am opening up an online bookstore soon, so maybe a bookseller.

What did you want to be when you were little? Has that changed?

I wanted to be an astronaut, nah JK. I was always drawing and writing stories. So I wanted to be a writer but my parents didn’t like that. Then throughout the years I changed that to a lawyer, doctor, and finally I decided business. I’m actually a really good at it too, which surprised not just me but everyone I knew since I used to be really shy.

Randomness

 Cats or dogs?
CATS!! I had two when I lived in Guatemala. Dogs just naturally don’t like me.

 Favorite animal?
Favorite…I would have to say the quetzal. It’s exotic, free, and colorful. Plus it’s my birth country’s national bird.

 White, dark, or milk chocolate?
DARK chocolate all the way!

 Coke or Pepsi?
I am COKE. People say there’s no difference but I’m weird so, I DO taste the difference. O_O

 Favorite TV show?
I am a crime/investigator/mystery girl (which is weird because I don’t like those genres when I’m reading) So I love shows like CSI: Miami, Cold Case, Criminal Minds, Pretty Little Liars, Nine Lives of Chloe King, and Law & Order.

 Movie?
Eek! I have ton’s but my favorite OF ALL TIME is NACHO LIBRE!! Me and my sister quote from it all the time. Then comes Pitch Perfect, Shrek, the Ice Age movies, Twilight, The Avengers, Iron Man, Despicable Me, The Hunger Games, and a few more.

 Color?
PURPLE!!! I didn’t even know i liked it until I started blogging. My blog has always had purple in its design; and most of the blogs I have design also have purple in them.

Thanks for being here today, Lisseth! It was great getting to know you! :)

  2. OMG I love Lisseth! DUDE I had no idea about the bone but I’m glad you’re okay now!! :) I cannot believe you read that many books in a summer it’s official. Your blog name is perfect and if someone else had it instead of you I would run to their house and make them give their title to you because it would fit you better. OBVIOUSLY. I agree about the review thing, too. I love getting to get feedback on books I loved and seeing what other people thought of them.

    Fantastic interview guys!!

    • LissethTorres

Glad you’re loving TMI so far :D And i don’t think Uglies will be a movie anymore, which i kinda like because to make that world would be CRAZY! Thanks for Stopping by here :D

But great being here Jessi and much <333 to you and everyone who commented! :D

    • My goodness, if I got that far behind on reviewing, I’d forget everything! If I don’t review the book within a week I can’t because I pretty much forget what happened in the story….

RIGHT?! Same here! I have Code from the library right now, and it’s been sitting on my read ASAP shelf for a month and I haven’t had the chance to get to it :( Hopefully I can in early May!

      Thanks for participating <3
