Best friends have become enemies. Lovers have become strangers. And deciding whose side you're on could be the difference between life and death. For Eve and Lemon, discovering the truth about themselves--and each other--was too much for their friendship to take. But with the country on the brink of a new world war--this time between the BioMaas swarm at CityHive and Daedalus's army at Megopolis, loyalties will be pushed to the brink, unlikely alliances will form and with them, betrayals. But the threat doesn't stop there, because the lifelikes are determined to access the program that will set every robot free, a task requiring both Eve and Ana, the girl she was created to replace. In the end, violent clashes and heartbreaking choices reveal the true heroes . . . and they may not be who you think they are.

My thoughts

Okay, so I let this review go WAY too long! I don’t know why, I loved this book just like I love all of Jay’s other stuff. But for some reason, it didn’t stick with me like the first two books did. I even listened to it via audio as a re-read and STILL barely remember anything *hides*

Not to say I didn’t enjoy the shit out of it – I definitely did! As always, Jay grabs you by the balls and doesn’t let go. I was on the edge of my seat the whole book! You never know what’s going to happen next. And as always, I love that Jay doesn’t spare his characters. Bad shit happens to them, it’s very realistic! This was a great end to an amazing trilogy and I highly recommend it! (Also Erin Spencer narrates the series and she is AMAZING, if you can go for audio DO IT!)

4.5 Stars

A gorgeously illustrated collection of twelve fairy tales by the author of The Hazel Wood and The Night Country!

Before The Hazel Wood, there was Althea Proserpine's Tales from the Hinterland...

Journey into the Hinterland, a brutal and beautiful world where a young woman spends a night with Death, brides are wed to a mysterious house in the trees, and an enchantress is killed twice--and still lives.

My thoughts

One of my FAVORITE things from the Hazel Wood duology was the twisted stories of the Tales From the Hinterland book. I was so jazzed to see that Melissa was making the book from the story into an actual book! And it did not disappoint! I love how twisted all the stories are, they’re all so dark! I think my favorite story of the book was Hansa the Traveler, but Alice-Three-Times was a close second. If you haven’t read this, you need to – especially if you enjoy dark and twisted fairy tales! (You don’t even need to read The Hazel Wood first, this one can definitely be a standalone!)
