5 Stars

When forced to choose between safety with the dragon organization Talon and being hunted forever as an outcast, Ember Hill chose to stand with Riley and his band of rogue dragons rather than become an assassin for Talon. She’s lost any contact with her twin brother, Dante, a Talon devotee, as well as Garret, the former-enemy soldier who challenged her beliefs about her human side.

As Ember and Riley hide and regroup to fight another day, Garret journeys alone to the United Kingdom, birthplace of the ancient and secret Order of St. George, to spy on his former brothers and uncover deadly and shocking secrets that will shake the foundations of dragons and dragonslayers alike and place them all in imminent danger as Talon’s new order rises.

My thoughts

Oh how I love anything and everything Julie writes! I have yet to find something of hers that I didn’t like, and I’m pretty sure that will never happen. IT’S JUST NOT POSSIBLE.

I have to say, this series just keeps getting better and better! I love Ember’s story and the world that Julie has created. I mean, can you go wrong with dragons?!

“Then, as you Americans say, the shit is about to hit the fan.”

I loved Jade! I think she’s my favorite character in the series so far. She was hilarious! I love that she’s so practical, and every time she referred to some American custom she had me cracking up. I definitely want to see more of her!

Human or dragon? The steady, unshakeable soldier or the brash, defiant rogue?

Okay so…the love triangle. I saw a lot of complaints about it in reviews of Talon and Rogue. And while I despise love triangles, this one works for me. Because Ember has two parts of herself, so each part of her loves a different guy. I, personally, as I’ve made it clear already in the previous two reviews, am 100% Team Cobalt. View Spoiler »

THAT ENDING. After I finished the book I just kinda stared off into space for a few minutes…**View Spoiler » There’s not much else I can say except this: YOU NEED TO READ THIS SERIES. (And everything else Julie Kagawa!) I can’t WAIT to read Legion!

  1. OOoh nice!! I adore this series (as well as ALL of Julie’s books) too! Though I STILL need to read this one! Falling behind on review books so I’ve been playing catch up though if there’s another horrifying cliffhanger, I will happily wait to read this one once I have Legion at the ready…though likely I will be killed by that ending too! LOL! Glad to see you enjoyed this one! Cannot wait to get back to it! Nice review!
