The only thing worse than being a witch is living with one.

Camellia’s adopted mother wants Cam to grow up to be just like her. Problem is, Mom’s a seriously wicked witch.

Cam’s used to stopping the witch’s crazy schemes for world domination. But when the witch summons a demon, he gets loose—and into Devon, the cute new boy at school.

Now Cam’s suddenly got bigger problems than passing Algebra. Her friends are getting zombiefied. Their dragon is tired of hiding in the RV garage. For being a shy boy-band boy, Devon is sure kissing a bunch of girls. And a phoenix hidden in the school is going to explode on the night of the Halloween Dance.

To stop the demon before he destroys Devon’s soul, Cam might have to try a spell of her own. But if she’s willing to work spells like the witch...will that mean she’s wicked too?

My thoughts

A huge thank you to Tor Teen for sending me a copy for review!

This book was so full of cute! It was a very fluffy read (which I need from time to time), adorable and fun in the vein of Rachel Hawkins. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this book!

I love the world of witchery in this book – they have a ‘WitchNet’ and a ‘Witchipedia.’ Cute, right?! Also a dragon! And a werewolf pup! I was totally geeked about that. I loved hearing about Moonfire and Wulfie. I was kind of wishing that Wulfie would have had more appearances, though!

The things that Sarmine did to punish Cam were kind of scary O_O Um, being turned into fifteen hundred worms? Making your limbs fall asleep randomly if you don’t obey? No, thank you.

Cam and Devon were totally adorable together! While it wasn’t swoony, it was a cute romance and I liked their interactions. It totally sucked when he got possessed!

I loved the cathartic quality of the relationships toward the end! I totally had warm fuzzies View Spoiler »

I did find it to be a bit predictable. View Spoiler » But I still enjoyed seeing it play out! This book might be better suited to a younger audience, but I definitely still recommend this to anyone looking for a quick, fun, and fluffy read!

  1. This kind of reminds me of Sabrina the Teenage Witch, only her aunts were nice. I don’t know if I’ll read it anytime soon, but it does sound like a nice, fluffy read for after reading something heavy and thick. Great review!

  2. I got this one too but I think the fluff is actually putting it off for me. I’ll try again – maybe I just wasn’t in the riht mood when I started. Also, I didn’t really like Rachel Hawkins but I’ll TRYYY

  3. Aw, this book sounds so up my alley, I like cute and adorable and books for the younger audience. I’m just an easy pleased reader when it comes to the younger reads. Sounds like this could be a quick quick read, I shall keep an eye out for it for sure Jessi, thank you!
