Weekly Recap

Posts on the blog:

What I’ve been up to this week the past TWO weeks:

Well, it’s been a crazy couple of weeks, that’s for sure. Some of you may have seen on Facebook or Instagram, but I split with my fiancé after two years together. It’s been rough, but I know it’s for the best. That’s all I want to say on here. I’m going to be struggling for a while, though, because I’m taking on the house by myself. I’ll basically be putting everything I have into the house =/ So no more buying books or bookish things for me for some time, I’m afraid.

I also started my new double schedule at work. Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday 12 hour shifts…with the other 4 days off. It’s been awesome! I have so much more time to read do things. I got lucky this weekend because of Memorial Day – I have a 5 day weekend! I was off Friday, Saturday, and today; I only have to go in at 7 and 7 tomorrow to feed the dogs and let them out, and I have Tuesday off! YIPPEE!

I got a letter from Allstate a couple of weeks ago saying they were kicking me off my homeowner’s insurance due to “loose or missing shingles.” The ‘missing’ ones were black, where the previous owner replaced shingles but bought the wrong color. But once we got up on the roof, we realized that almost the ENTIRE front side was loose :( My dad and I had to spend a whole day up there nailing down shingles and sealing the nails with roofing cement. It SUCKED. I never realized how hard roofing was. Plus the roof was as hot as a freaking stovetop – we couldn’t sit because it literally burned our skin through our clothes. So there was a lot of squatting and bending over on top of the hammering. Thank goodness it was only 65 that day! The sad thing is, I was actually burnt the next day on my arms and face. I never burn, you guys. Goes to show how badly the roof reflects the sun!

This weekend I decided to do some yard work. It’s SO overgrown! I mean, just look at the two trees in the back yard:

I’m kicking myself for letting them get that bad! Ken took care of the one in the front last summer, which is why it’s not quite as bad as the back one. But it’s still grown back pretty bad. I’ve got about halfway through the front one, but I feel like I’ve barely made a dent in it! I spent an hour on it yesterday and about a half hour this morning, but it’s seriously exhausting work so I can’t take much of it at a time :(

Blog news:

As you can see, I’ve been letting the blog slip again. *sighs* I just haven’t been able to give it the love it needs lately. But, I’m hoping that will change in the coming weeks! I’ve been reading a lot more now, though, since I’ve had so much time on my hands. With me being on double shifts, I’ll have a lot more free time!

What’s in your mailbox, loverlies? Link me up!
