I had lots of fun at the Sarah J. Maas signing in Cinci this past Thursday! She was so adorable and awesome! I also got to see Amanda @ Confessions of a Bookie Monster again. Woop! There’s a video below if you’re interested enough to hear the whole panel, but since it’s super long I’m going to do a quick recap: Sarah talked about how she started off writing on fanfic sites and that she had a big fanbase before she ever got published. She was a nerd growing up but she went through preppy phases. She feels lucky and blessed to have made it so far because she didn’t ever think she would get where she is now, and sometimes it feels like it’s someone else’s life. We also learned that her great grandparents were both in concentration camps (hence Calaena’s time in the salt mines), she likes Gods and mythology, her maps were drawn by one of her fans, and Throne of Glass is going to be a 6 to 7 book series. She hates when dogs die in books and movies and vowed she would never kill a dog (Fleetfoot is safe!), except for that one really mean one in Throne of Glass, which she didn’t even remember but one of the girls in the crowd reminded her. Oh yeah, and she’s Team Chaol ;)

CAUTION: If you have not seen the new Riddick movie, don’t watch the last 2 minutes! There is a huge spoiler!! (I haven’t seen it and it’s kind of ruined for me now…)

Sorry the sound is so awful!

  1. Sarah J Maas also came to my local indie store, but of course, I was sick that day :( I’m glad you had a good time, though! I love her novels, and also, they have the best cover designs. I’m so glad they changed the US cover to match the UK designs.

I have a copy of The Farm that’s been sitting on my shelf since BEA 2012 D: I really, reaaaallly need to get on that. Finally, If You Find Me was one of my favorite books this year.

What a great haul, Jessi. Hope you have a good week :)

  2. It was so nice seeing you again! :) Sara was such a sweet person and I really enjoyed hearing about how she got started as an author. I’m so glad she’s not one of those authors that take their success for granted. She was so grateful for her supporters.

Also, you’re gonna have to let me know how you like “Into the Still Blue.” I’m really looking forward to that one! :)

  3. I’m so jealous you got to meet Sarah Maas! After reading Throne of Glass, I really want to fangirl all over her (and probably creep her out). :P
And I’ve heard/seen mixed reviews on Waterfell. Either way, I hope you’ll enjoy that one Jessi! (:

  4. I’m so glad you had a good time at the signing! I still wish I could have gone but two hours each way ended up being just too far away. Also, I’m super jealous that you have Into the Still Blue! I keep seeing people getting it and I’m still waiting for approval but I’m pretty sure it won’t ever come. :-( I can’t wait to see what you think of it! I hope it’s as epic and amazing as it should be!

  5. How fun! I love when you record the signings! YAY! I’m glad you got to go! She sounds like so much awesome!!!! YAY FOR BEING TEAM CHAOL. Lol. I’m surprised she admitted it. Haha.

    ENJOY ALL THE PRETTY BOOKSSS!!!
