Meet Heather!

How long have you been blogging? What made you want to start a book blog?

I’ve been blogging since July of last year.  However, I only started book blogging in October 2012.

I love reading books and always have!  I had started to review books on Goodreads when an Indie author contacted me asking if I’d review his book & write a blog post about it.  I said yes, and immediately I became addicted!!

What do you do when you’re not blogging or reading?

When I’m not blogging or reading, I’m probably busy being bored!!  Haha, no seriously, I’m spending time with my husband Simon, son Cayden, and dog Bella =)

What is your favorite part about blogging? Least favorite?

My favorite part about blogging is meeting other bloggers/readers.  Plus, I love letting others know what I thought about a book.

My least favorite part about blogging is when I have to give a one or two star review.  I feel really bad because I don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings.  I feel that when I write a review of a book that I didn’t like that I’m hurting the author’s feelings. =(

Where did you come up with the name for your blog?

I really did struggle coming up with a name for my blog.  Finally I decided on “The (Mis)Adventures of a Twenty-Something Year Old Girl” because it sounded funny, and it also describes my life!  I’m always having misadventures, lol.

What do you look for in a blog when following? What are your pet peeves?

I like a blog that posts interesting reviews about books that I would like to read.  I like a blog that doesn’t post a million times a day.  This might sound petty, but I also like blogs that have a nice layout and background.  There’s nothing worse than a blog that’s cluttered with a bunch of stuff!!

What’s your favorite book(s)?

I love YA books, especially YA books that deal with ghosts!!  Horror is my favorite genre =)  Some of my favorite books include the Bad Girls Don’t Die series by Katie Alender.  I also liked the Twilight books by Stephenie Meyer.  And I have to say that the books were a million times better than the films!  However, I also like the classics like To Kill a Mockingbird and The Bell Jar…books like that!

Favorite author?

I have so many!  Okay, I’ll pick just one to talk about…I love Katie Alender.  The way she writes is amazing!!!

What is the biggest turn off for you when you’re reading a book?

Too much sex!!  I hate that.  I don’t want to read sex scenes in a book.  If I wanted sex scenes, I’d read an erotica book.

What first draws you to a book to make you want to read it?

The cover…Yes, I know you’re never supposed to judge a book by its cover, but I do.  If it has an interesting cover, I’ll pick it up and then read what it’s about.

Describe yourself in 3 words.

Bookworm, crazy, nerdy.

Name a random fact about yourself.

I get jealous of authors who can write incredible books.  I really wish I could!

Do you have a job? If so, what do you do?

I don’t have a job yet, but I’m looking.  I want to go back to university to be an elementary teacher.  Failing that, I’d love to work in a daycare.

What did you want to be when you were little? Has that changed?

I wanted to be a ballerina when I was little.  When I was around 12, I wanted to be a model, actress, and or singer.  That’s definitely changed! lol

Randomness

Cats or dogs?
Dogs…I do like both but I prefer dogs.

 Favorite animal?
I love wolves!

 White, dark, or milk chocolate?
Definitely milk chocolate!

 Coke or Pepsi?
Neither…give me an RC Cola any day =)

 Favorite TV show?
Game of Thrones.

 Movie?
Land Before Time (only the very first one though).

 Color?
Pink

Thanks for being here today, Heather! It was great getting to know you! :)
