Undersea Spotlight: Maida at Literary Love Affair

How long have you been blogging? What made you want to start a book blog?

I actually didn’t know that book blogs existed until last year. A very close friend of mine, Shreya over at Chocolate Coated Reviews, was starting her blog and she was constantly telling me about it on Goodreads, so I became very curious. I discovered so many book blogs since then and LOVED what the whole blogging community was about, so I finally decided to make my own last April. I’ve been blogging for 10 months now and I love every moment of it!  

What do you do when you’re not blogging or reading?

When I’m not reading or blogging, I’m a student (last year of high school), trying my best to get into a university and achieve my dream of working with Doctors Without Borders. I’m also in love with The Vampire Diaries, so every Thursday, you can find me in front of a TV going crazy over Damon Salvatore. Overall, not the worst life. 

What is your favorite part about blogging? Least favorite?

Oh wow….how do I answer this without rambling?? Okay, my favourite part about blogging, without a doubt, is sharing what I love to read with others and meeting amazing bloggers who share the same passion/hobby as me and authors who have incredible work. It’s a way for me to hear about new books, and I love that! My least favourite part is probably organizing all my posts. I know what you’re wondering..why’d you start blogging then? Well, honestly I’m a lazy person…I’ll get my posts done, I just dislike scheduling them. LOL ;p 

Where did you come up with the name for your blog?

Honestly, I have no idea. Like I said before, Shreya was my blog inspiration so she gave me some creative titles, but out of the blue, I came up with Literary Love Affair. It was one of those spontaneous moments…not too much thinking was done. Plus, I don’t think I’ve seen another blog, as of yet, with the same name.

Do you have any specific book bloggers that inspire you?

Oh yes yes…so many unbelievable bloggers and great friends to chat with! Here are a few: Shreya @ Chocolate Coated Reviews, Teresa @ Readers Live A Thousand Lives, Magen @ Corrie The Book Crazed Girl, Sam @ Realm of Fiction, Montana @ The Book Belles, Tanja @ Jacitamati, Carmen @ Book Me, Andrea @ The Bookish Babe and Jennifer @ Some Like It Paranormal. There are soooo many more, but these are the ones from the top of my head. 

What do you look for in a blog when following? What are your pet peeves?

Honestly, if I visit a blog and your posts are fun and genuine, I’ll follow you and drop be to say hello whenever. I love reading reviews that really inspire me to pick up a book, and that’s what I look for. As for pet peeves, the only thing I can think of are those annoying Anonymous comments that always end up as spam. So, irritating. :s

What’s your favorite book(s)?

After hearing this question a million times, I still don’t know how to answer with just ONE book. I have so many favourites, but from 2012; Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry, Such a Rush by Jennifer Echols, Deity by Jennifer L. Armentrout, Iced by Karen Marie Moning, Spark by Brigid Kemmerer and The Golden Lily by Richelle Mead (to name a few. ;p)

What is the biggest turn off for you when you’re reading a book?

LOVE THIS QUESTION! Biggest turn off….rushed, cheesy romance. I mean seriously, it’s cute in the beginning, but when you have the “I hate you, but still love you” speeches coming in every  other page..no no no. *shakes head* This is only made worse when the synopsis was so darn good! 

What first draws you to a book to make you want to read it?

Okay, I shouldn’t say this but everyone does this…gorgeous covers! I love looking at covers that tell a story of what’s going to happen in a book, and if the cover can allure me..I’m sold. Of course the description comes in as the ultimate decider..but still…it’s the covers that first draws me in…

Crazy, friendly, chatty (I can talk a mile a minute if it’s a topic I love!) 

Name a random fact about yourself.

My favourite word is bubbles! Yes I know…*giggles* But I love the way it sounds and I mean come on…try saying it over and over again…it just sounds hilarious! :D

Do you have a job? If so, what do you do?

I actually don’t have a job (student..busy busy life), but I volunteer as a Leading to Reading Leader for kids who need help with reading. It’s awesome! :)

What did you want to be when you were little? Has that changed?

Hahahahha….I wanted to be a talk show host at first (after watching Tyra Banks), then it changed to a detective, then to a criminal profiler (from watching criminal minds! Although, I am getting a major in Criminology…cause it’s just too fascinating to give up) and I am planning to be a doctor. *fingers crossed*

 White, dark, or milk chocolate? 
Ohhh..I can’t pick one..cause I love chocolate! So, Hershey’s Cookies and Cream; Godiva Dark Chocolate and Cadbury milk chocolate. Best of all worlds!
