Meet Doodle Bug!

Hi, I am 23… no wait 24, I had a birthday recently ;) I am too young to be this confused but age is nothing but a number anyway! I was born and raised in Texas and proud. I haven’t been out of the state much. I am mommy to a beautiful 5 year old girl and a devious 2 year old boy. I am married and I absolutely love my job as a Network Technician even if it does drag time away from my hobbies.

How long have you been blogging? What made you want to start a book blog?

I have actually only been blogging for 9 months now. I discovered blogging when I was a stay at home mom in West Texas where there is absolutely nothing to do!! I was reading all the time and all my friends were too busy with work or school to read along or to discuss them with me. So I started a blog. I figured no one would read it but at least I could spew about the amazing stories I was reading.

What is your favorite part about blogging? Least favorite?

I love writing about what I am reading, and you can see how much I like about a book by how much I run on and on and on. I don’t have a lot of time and I hate that I can’t post more; also I don’t have the time to find new and creative ways to decorate… but that’s not really what it’s all about anyway!

Where did you come up with the name for your blog?

I love this question!!! When I first started blogging, I just named it after myself cause I didn’t know what an amazing community this was. When I had over 100 people on my personal facebook, I stepped back and started over. I named this one after my daughter. Her nickname is Doodle Bug and she’s my whole world!

Do you have any specific book bloggers that inspire you?

There are tons of book bloggers out there, and really they are all an inspiration. Workaday Reads, I am a Reader, Not a Writer, and The Story Siren are a few I frequent and helped get me started.

What do you look for in a blog when following? What are your pet peeves?

I prefer book blogs but love when they come with variety. I want to know a little bit about the blogger as well as the books. I don’t care much for overposting. 5 emails a day is more than I can keep up with.

What’s your favorite book(s)?

Dystopian is my newest favorite. I particularly loved Divergent! YA, Dystopian with a side of Romance, YES Please!!!

Favorite author?

Who has just one favorite? I have several but the one person I go to most is Piers Anthony. He has several series and they are all intriguing reads!

What is the biggest turn off for you when you’re reading a book?

My only real turnoff is a book that drags. Even if I can see a reason for it, it will always lower my opinion of the book.

What first draws you to a book to make you want to read it?

I have to admit I judge books by their cover. It’s the first thing you see so if it can’t grab your attention from a shelf full of books, how are you supposed to know about the summary?

Describe yourself in 3 words.

Obsessive, caring, forgetful.

Name a random fact about yourself.

I married my highschool sweetheart.

Do you have a job? If so, what do you do?

I am a Network Technician. I work a solid 40 hours a week fixing computers and I love it.

What did you want to be when you were little? Has that changed?

I grew up wanting to be a teacher. I actually went to school for it before I decided it wasn’t for me. I happened upon the job I have now and couldn’t be happier.

Randomness

Cats or dogs?
I’m not really an animal person, but I love the look of cats! Especially the big ones.

White, dark, or milk chocolate?
Dark Chocolate….. YUM!

Coke or Pepsi?
Coke definitely…Pepsi is too syrupy.

Favorite TV show?

Grey’s Anatomy!!! My husband and I watch it religiously and even do reruns on Netflix during the summer. Also love Vampire Diaries.

Movie?
Probably Stick It. I’ve seen it a million times!

Color?
Purple.

Thanks for being here today, it was fantastic getting to know you :)
