ARC Review: Mirage by Somaiya Daud

ARC Review: Mirage by Somaiya Daud

While this one fell flat for me, I strongly believe that this is going to be a favorite for a lot of readers, and a hit fantasy of 2018! The world was beautiful, but the places were really overwhelming for me to keep up with. There was no map (there will be in final copy – something that sucks about reading ARCs) so I had trouble sorting all the places out. I also didn’t understand the conflict between the different […]

“We’ve inherited the darkest legacy, but they don’t know that we’ve learned how to thrive in shadows and create our own light.” The Darkest Minds trilogy is one of my all time favorite series, so I was thrilled to see Alexandra bringing some of my all time fave characters back for another round! I was excited to read through Zu’s perspective, I loved her in the originals. And it was positively wonderful to step back into the thrilling and cinematic world […]

Review: Metaltown by Kristen Simmons

Review: Metaltown by Kristen Simmons

This was Metaltown. Things didn’t change in Metaltown. You changed, and if you didn’t you paid. Beautifully written as always, Kristen! This book was dark and gritty, and perfectly portrayed the struggles of the world. It was such a beautiful and (and heartbreaking) story! I love that it showed the power of rising up and letting your voice be heard. The unfairness of everything really struck me, I thought Kristen did a fabulous job driving that home! I really felt for the characters and […]

Review: Furthermore by Tahereh Mafi

Review: Furthermore by Tahereh Mafi

I’m not really sure what I was expecting with this book, honestly. I was a bit worried about it being Middle Grade, since I’ve never read MG before and I was afraid it’d be too sophomoric for me. But true to Tahereh’s writing, it was quite beautiful! The only thing really MG about this book is the characters’ ages and disposition. It wasn’t as flowery as her usual prose, but it was still on a higher level of writing than […]

Review: Vicarious by Paula Stokes

Review: Vicarious by Paula Stokes

Before I picked this book up, I was in a massive reading slump. (No seriously, I’d picked up like 5 different books in succession with no luck, I didn’t finish any of them.) Perhaps all I needed was to step outside of my genre comfort zone! I love Paula’s writing, and this one was no different. And such a cool concept, too! I loved the idea of ViSE – Vicarious Sensory Experience – basically, you can live vicariously through someone else’s […]
