2.5 Stars

Juliette Ferrars thought she'd won. She took over Sector 45, was named the new Supreme Commander, and now has Warner by her side. But she's still the girl with the ability to kill with a single touch—and now she's got the whole world in the palm of her hand.

When tragedy hits, who will she become? Will she be able to control the power she wields and use it for good?

My thoughts

Okay, so I think the hype monster got me on this one. Or maybe because I was so blown away by the second and third books that I was just expecting more?

I was disappointed in this one. I had sky high expectations, and it didn’t deliver. Honestly? I was kinda bored. I feel like not a whole lot happened – it was mostly just Juliette adjusting to life as Supreme Commander. There was little to no plot in this book.

Basically what I’m saying is that I hated Juliette in this book. I never really cared about her all that much to begin with to be honest, I just wanted her to be with Warner because I love the shit out of him and wanted him to be happy. She was just there. But she took it to a new level in this book, and I wanted to punch her in the face. I understand that she’s naive, she doesn’t have much experience with people, blah blah blah. But she just acted so RIDICULOUS, like a freaking 5-year-old. I couldn’t stand her in this book.

I think the ending kind of made up for it? But I was expecting some big giant kerfuffle (hee) and I was completely underwhelmed. I mean, it’s crazy, yeah, but not like blow your mind, rock your socks off crazy. I just wanted more overall from this book. That being said, I want to make a statement that may piss some people off: This was meant to be a trilogy. And you can tell. I wish Tahereh had left it alone.

  1. I actually totally understand all of your points here, but I still really enjoyed the book. Is that weird? Lol. I think my love for this series is just so strong I just can’t not love it. Are you still going to read the next books?
