Top Ten Tuesday: Bingeworthy TV Shows

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl

1. Dexter

Dexter is and always will be my all time favorite tv show. It is BRILLIANTLY written and nothing could ever fill such big shoes! It gets so intense in the last few seasons! And SO. BRUTAL. Don’t ship anyone, don’t get attached to anyone… (And um, that ending?!?!)

I’ve watched it several times all the way through!

2. Game of Thrones

I was a super latecomer to this show. I didn’t know what the fuss was about, and for a while I wasn’t really that interested. But when I started seeing everyone talking about it, I HAD to know why. I signed up for the HBO channel on a free trial to try it out – and ended up bingeing all 7 seasons in two weeks. Basically all I did was eat, sleep, and watch GoT when I didn’t have to work. It is SO addicting!!

At first I was like W T F am I even watching ew that is his SISTER?! but despite all the nasty wtf moments in the first season or two, the show is absolutely brilliant. It gets better and better! I will say the sexual content was a little much for me at times (and I could so do without the incest thank you very much), but thankfully there’s less and less of it as the show goes on.

I actually just started re-watching this recently and I’m amazed at how much I missed! It really is a show you have to watch a couple of times because there’s just so much going on. There’s a ton of characters I didn’t even remember from the first time!

3. Stranger Things

This is another favorite, and another with positively brilliant writing! This show is INTENSE and I just love all the twists and turns! Also the music is epic. If you haven’t watched it yet PLEASE DO. I need to re-watch it for Halloween!

4. The Flash

This is a recent obsession! I had watched the first season a few years back and loved it, but for some reason never continued. After months of begging, I finally got my boyfriend to start it with me (he had never seen it before, he’s like me he doesn’t care much for superhero TV shows but I kept telling him it was amazing!) he fell in love too! It is super addicting! It was our routine almost daily to watch at least one episode. We just finished a couple of weeks ago and life feels empty without it! Grant Gustin is the best Flash (THE ONLY FLASH I WILL ACKNOWLEDGE TYVM), I just love him so much. (Can I please just say that bad Barry is sexy Barry mhmm) I adore all of the characters and the amazing cast – especially Tom Cavanagh (Dr. Wells), who is a freaking incredible actor! I can’t say much about his character without spoilers, but you can’t truly appreciate his acting until season two or three. View Spoiler »

P.S. This is the only superhero series I’ve ever actually loved. Iron Fist was decent, but not even close to the Flash’s level. None of the others interested me at all.

5. Inuyasha

Okay, so this is kind of a unique recommendation because you probably have to be into anime to want to watch it. So it’s not something I can recommend to everyone. But, if you DO watch/like anime, I highly recommend! It’s one of my all time favorite anime shows (second only to Escaflowne). There’s like a billion episodes, though, so if you want to see it through to the end be prepared to commit lol!

6. Santa Clarita Diet

I think maybe the reason I love this show so much is that it’s basically like couples Dexter. (I also adore Timothy Olyphant to pieces.) And it is HILARIOUS!! Oh my gosh Aaron and I were laughing our asses off. It’s kind of disturbing sometimes because hellooo Drew Barrymore eats people, but I promise you’ll love it! (Unless you’re like…super squeamish. Then maybe not, heh.)

7. The 100

This show used to be one of my favorites – I haven’t watched in a while so it’s kind of faded into the background, but I freaking LOVED it when I was actively watching! The first season is probably my favorite, but it’s such a great story overall even though I hate Clarke and miss Lincoln. We still need to watch season 5, oops *sheepish grin*

8. The Shannara Chronicles

Another great story line! I also love that the characters aren’t spared. Plus I may or may not have a mega crush on Allanon. *shrugs* The music is hipster-ish (like Mumford & Sons hipster-ish, ew) but that’s really my only complaint about it! Can’t wait for season 3!

9. Futureman

This show is intentionally campy and it is SO FUNNY!! In the first episode you’re kind of like uhhh wtf but it sneaks up on you! I loved the characters, and the literal way Tiger and Wolf took on the world was just too funny. The character growth was incredible, I got so attached to them!

10. New Legends of Monkey

Okay, fair warning: this show is cheesy AF, but it’s totally meant to be. It’s basically a live action anime series – if you watch anime you totally understand what I mean. But it’s so cheesy it’s hilarious, and this is another one with awesome characters! I am IN LOVE with Sandy, she’s amazing! Also Chai Hansen (Monkey) is pretty easy on the eyes *waggles eyebrows*

  1. I love Game of Thrones, Santa Clarita Diet, and Stranger Things. I tried Dexter and thought I would love it but ended up being very meh and that really disappointed me because it is absolutely right up my alley.

  2. I love Dexter!! But I still haven’t finished it, oops I am going to rewatch it from the beginning so I can finally finish it, though. And somehow I’ve never watched InuYasha even though I knew so many people online who loved it when I had an anime website a long time ago. I think it’s on Netflix in my country so I’ll have to give it a go :)

    • Omg you NEED to!! It gets flippin’ INSANE in the last season or two, and that ending!!! And omg yes, Inuyasha is fabulous. I miss it so much! I don’t know where you’re located, but I’m pretty sure we binged the whole thing on Netflix at the time. I can’t remember if they had the final season or not (it’s different).
