Important Announcement Regarding Life of a Blogger

Posted by Jessi (Geo) on April 16, 2015 | 18 Comments

Some of you have probably noticed that the list of Life of a Blogger subjects has run out. There’s a few reasons for that:

1. I have no more ideas for topics. I just want to thank all of you who submitted all those awesome topics used in the past. You guys rock! There were a lot of topics that I didn’t use, mainly because they were closely related to a topic that had already been done, or because it was too closely related to bookish things (I wanted LoaB to be more about your personal life, completely non book related), or because it just didn’t feel right for my feature. I still appreciate all of those suggestions, though!

2. I’m not invested anymore. I’m honestly kind of burned out on the feature. It ran strong for over a year, and I had a lot of fun doing it, but now I’m kind of just…done. I don’t have the time or energy anymore to visit every participant to comment, and I think that’s unfair to all of you who put in the work to be part of the feature. I feel like I’m slacking with it, and it’s not getting the attention it deserves. I’ve also been writing the posts later and later (as I’m sure some of you have noticed), and I don’t have the motivation to schedule them in advance anymore. It’s become a chore, and that’s definitely not what I want.

3. I’m not getting much participation. I feel like no one really cares about it anymore, and it just seems like waste of time. I used to have 20-30 participants, and now it’s dwindling to no more than 7 or 8. It seems to me as if everyone else is getting sick of it, too.

I want to thank all of you wonderful people who have participated in this feature even once in the past year and a half, and I want to give a special thank you to those that have stuck with it for 10-20 weeks: Rosie @ Rosie Reads, Melissa @ Writer Grrl Reads, Kelly @ Effortlessly Reading, Berls @ Fantasy is More Fun, Angie @ Pinkindle, Michelle @ Because Reading, Shannon @ Rex Robot Reviews, Beverley @ My Senses Come to Life, Bernadette @ The Bumbling Bookworm, Franny @ Mind Reader, and Kelly @ Dandelion Dreams.

I also want to give a huge thank you to Katrina @ Chased by My Imagination, Sylvia @ Darkest Sins, and Evolet @ Wet Panty Stories for sticking with me for almost an entire year, and also the biggest and most special thank you of all to Tabitha @ Bows and Bullets because Tabitha has been with me for every single week since the feature started. Thank you so much Tabitha, you rock! <3

I had a wonderful time hosting Life of a Blogger for 72 weeks and I’m sad to see it go. Again, thank you to everyone who made the feature possible! I love you guys!

  1. Aw. :(

I became a total slacker on this and I feel bad! But some weeks I just didn’t have anything to say. And I can totally see where you’re coming from. If you can’t give it your all, then there’s no need to worry about it. LoaB had a great run! And really, you covered a TON of topics! I’m not even sure what’s left! :D

  2. Awww, its kinda sad to see this feature go, I’ve always checked out Kelly’s posts on this feature, but I understand that sometimes you have to see something go for you to build something new, right? haha I hope that you feel better today! :D

  3. I’m sorry to hear your great feature has come to an end, but I wanted to thank you for the fun! It was quite challenging at times and, for that, even more enjoyable for me. So thanks for the blast, and it was really my pleasure to take part in it! :)
    *Hugs*

  4. Aww! I am going to miss this! Thanks for hosting it, I had so much fun doing it. I might do something for myself on the blog similar if that is ok. I enjoyed talking about the things off the blog!
Again thanks for being an awesome host *hugs*

  5. Thanks for hosting this, Jessi. I can’t believe I was participating that long! I’m sad to see it go, but I totally understand. When it starts to feel like a job, it’s no fun and you don’t want to do it anymore. I get it. That’s kinda how i felt about doing book reviews and I’d liked myself into posting three times a week. Now I’m just going to focus on writing. I had so much fun participating. Something different to talk about other than books. Hope to see you elsewhere in the blogosphere.

  6. I’m sad to see this feature go – although I understand why. I really found it interesting to talk more about our lives as bloggers, especially since it was always hard for me to come up with personal topics to write about. I enjoyed getting to know everyone though during this time!

  7. Aw I’m sorry to see it end, but can completely understand why – I know I burnt out a bit too and I didn’t do every week. Turns out I’m not so interesting and don’t have quite as much to say about myself lol! But it was so much fun and I really feel like I got to know so many bloggers better, beyond the books, so it served its purpose! Thanks for hosting!

  8. Aww I am sad to see this feature go! I loved reading all the post and thought about participating later on!

You did an awesome job though, so there is always that! :)

  9. Well, darn! I just found this feature, and was super excited. Oh well. Definitely good to stop while you’re ahead! Nothing more fun as a blogger than to get bogged down and start to hate what you’re doing.

  10. I’m still really sad about this, but I’m glad it will help to stop you being so bogged down! There’s nothing worse than when Blogging starts to become stressful, no one wants that! Thanks for the mention also :) I’ve enjoyed every single topic!
