Meet Mariam!

Hi! My name is Mariam and I’m a 15 year old blogger from Egypt! And I don’t know what fascinates me more; the fact that I can’t imagine my life without reading or the amount of books that exists in the world – Wow! That did sound cheesy but hey! I am really fascinated by the possible amount of books in the world ;D And so reading is a huge passion of mine and my go-to-escape for when reality sucks. I have a tea addition and I enjoy reading YA novels of all genres ( all except for mysteries – I’m kinda done with dealing with Math at school, making me search for ‘Y’ all day long ;D )

[Jessi] Egypt, that’s awesome!!

How long have you been blogging? What made you want to start a book blog?

Well, I started blogging almost a year ago! And the reason behind starting a book blog was that I needed somewhere to gush about all the books that I read and because people all around me were kinda tired of me talking about books – I don’t have many passionate readers around me – and so I was over the moon when I found out about the book blogging community and being able to talk books with fellow book-lovers :)

What do you do when you’re not blogging or reading?

If I’m not blogging or reading then you will find me either studying, hanging out with my friends, watching TV, playing on my laptop or jogging outside. ( Not the most interesting stuff in the world but it will do ;D)

What is your favorite part about blogging? Least favorite?

Favourite part is probably the fact that I’m enjoying it as well as being part of this book blogging community that I love, and ‘meeting’ fellow bloggers and book-lovers whom I can freely talk about books with :) And also discovering tons of new books that I would have never heard of otherwise.

My least favourite part would probably be that it is really time consuming.

How did you come up with the name for your blog?

I have quite recently discovered the whole book blogging thing before starting my own, so when I decided on a name for my blog, it took me exactly 3 seconds – didn’t take the required time to think about it – but I really like it! I did think about changing it since it’s not the most unique name but decided otherwise, maybe in the future though.

Do you have any specific book bloggers that inspire you?

Mimi from Mimi Valantine, Shane from Itching for Books, Giselle from Xpresso Reads, Beverley & Jen from A Reading Daydreamer. I can’t think of more right now but I do have tons more.

What do you look for in a blog when following? What are your pet peeves?

I usually look for a taste similar to mine, so I could usually go through a good amount of reviews – and I don’t mind long reviews, but some reviews can be so incredibly long that it gets hard to keep up. Also, I really am not fond of eye-disturbing blogs, just more of a good-looking/organized blog, one that I can enjoy going through.

What’s your favorite book(s)?

Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry, Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire, The Host by Stephanie Meyer and Delirium by Lauren Oliver. Those are by far some of my top favourite reads.

Favorite author?

Lauren Oliver. AND Maggie Stiefvater. AND Katie McGarry. And Stephanie Meyer. AND Philippa Gregory. That totally didn’t look like a favorite author – Sorry Jessi! ;)

It’s all good! Nothing wrong with loving books! ;D

What is the biggest turn off for you when you’re reading a book?

Cheesy/annoying protagonists. Insta-love. Slow pacing.

DEATH TO INSTALOVE!! I hate it too. :(

What first draws you to a book to make you want to read it?

First, I must find the synopsis interesting enough for me and I always check some of my friends’ reviews – or just any random reviews – on Goodreads and Amazon. However, a pretty cover can really catch my attention – I know! I know! It’s said never to judge a book by it’s cover but it could really make difference ;)

Describe yourself in 3 words.

Ambitious, friendly, and spontaneous.

Name a random fact about yourself.

I’m left-handed :D

Do you have a job? If so, what do you do?

I’m a student, no job yet :)

What did you want to be when you were little? Has that changed?

I think it varied between wanting to be a broadcaster – just because I liked the idea of being on TV – and a journalist. And no, it hasn’t changed, I can still take those two into consideration for the future :D

Randomness

Cats or dogs?
Um, I’m not so fond of animals but I can say both :)

Favorite animal?
Horse.

White, dark, or milk chocolate?
DARK CHOCOLATE!

Coke or Pepsi?
Pepsi.

Favorite TV show?
Currently it’s The Vampires Diaries :D

Favorite movie?
Hunger Games!

Color?
Black.

Thanks for being here today, Mariam! It was fantastic getting to know you!
