Another Little Piece was dark and rather twisted, and I think that’s why I enjoyed it. It was kinda f*cked up at times, and sometimes I wondered what the heck I was reading, but in a good way! Every time I found another piece of the past, I wasn’t remembering it so much as reliving it. I like the way the story was told, with little snippets of flashbacks mixed in with the present. I saw a lot of complaints […]

I knew going in that I would enjoy this: Anything Virals is sure to be fun and action-packed. This one was no disappointment! Tory is the same kick-ass leader that I loved in the first two books. She fights for what she believes in and doesn’t give up! I like the whole ragtag pack; nerdy and practical Shelton, enthusiastic Hi, stoic Ben (who kinda disappointed me at one point), and even the adorable furry Coop. They each had their own […]

**Huge thanks to HarperTeen for providing a copy for review!  I really enjoyed this one while I was reading it, but looking back I realize: It didn’t make a lasting impression. Which saddens me. The details are already foggy and I have to struggle to remember certain things. But it is an engrossing read, because of the mystery aspect of it. I liked Lily, but I didn’t connect with her quite as much as I’d hoped to. Plus, there were times […]

Review: Ten by Gretchen McNeil

Hmm. I had a lot of mixed feelings about this one, so let me start with the bad (as per usual for me). The beginning dragged. A lot. There was waaaay too much teen angst and relationship drama for my tastes (I KNOW, it’s young adult. I know. But this was juvenile even for YA), which brought the story down quite a bit – for me, at least. It read too much like a typical and cliche horror movie: A […]

Review: I Hunt Killers by Barry Lyga

This was a step outside of my usual circle of genres for me. I like forensic stuff and I’m a huge fan of the show Dexter, but this was the first thriller/murder mystery I’ve ever read (unless you count Deadly Cool, which I don’t). Like a typical crime scene setup, there were some gruesome scenes in this book – so if you’re really squeamish, I probably wouldn’t recommend it. Those scenes didn’t exactly go into depth and detail and they […]

Review: Slide by Jill Hathaway

Secrets, lies, and danger, indeed! Slide was a fast-paced thriller with a plot that was crazy and twisted – I flew through this book in a matter of a few short hours because I didn’t want to put it down. The question of ‘Who is the killer?’ kept me thoroughly intrigued. Even though I rarely pick up mysteries, I enjoy reading them and trying to figure out what’s going to happen. Slide was a bit predictable, I’m afraid. I had a feeling of […]
