Evil flows silently among us like venom. This is a very tough review to write for me, and this book was hard to rate (you can see that my overall assessment ratings are all over the place). First of all, I’ve been wanting to read this for a long time because 1) I love the author. She’s one of the most friendly and sweetest authors I’ve ever had the privilege to talk to; and 2) because all of my Merp […]

Once again, I am the black sheep here. I really thought I could FINALLY find a zombie book I could actually love (so far, there are none), but again, I was wrong. I just want to say first: I really enjoyed Parasite. I loved the convincing world building, and the concept was so realistic it was almost scary. So, if you agree with me and didn’t like Feed, I still suggest picking up Parasite. I am very character driven when it […]

Review: Insomnia by J.R. Johansson

Writing reviews for books that didn’t give you much passion either way is very difficult. This is one of those books, sadly. I’m having trouble pinpointing the issue here. The idea behind Insomnia was fantastic, really. Being able to see the dreams of the last person you made eye contact with? Such an interesting concept! But I felt totally ‘meh’ through the whole book. I just couldn’t connect with the story at all. Or our main character, Parker. (I already […]

I do love the occasional mystery, and this one was pretty darn good! It gave you several options without giving away the ending. I have to admit, while I suspected the person at one point (although I suspected a couple different people), I didn’t figure it out until the end. I love that it wasn’t predictable! I tend to figure things out before the characters do, so it was refreshing to be surprised. Norcut says that was probably why my […]

First of all, the idea for this book is brilliant! Emotions are people? Yes please!! And our main character couldn’t feel any of them. It was kind of strange at times, because emotions are so natural that it was hard to imagine not feeling any at all. The only problem with that was, there were times when it should have been a very emotional scene; yet because Liz didn’t feel anything, neither did I. She was an emotional robot. I loved the […]

Review: Another Little Piece by Kate Karyus Quinn

Review: Another Little Piece by Kate Karyus Quinn

Another Little Piece was dark and rather twisted, and I think that’s why I enjoyed it. It was kinda f*cked up at times, and sometimes I wondered what the heck I was reading, but in a good way! Every time I found another piece of the past, I wasn’t remembering it so much as reliving it. I like the way the story was told, with little snippets of flashbacks mixed in with the present. I saw a lot of complaints […]
