My thoughts
This book is definitely at an adult level because of the steamy scenes. And man, where they hot! I felt like I needed a cold shower after reading this one. I enjoyed the interaction between Grace and Julian. She started off fighting his appeal, which was something he wasn’t used to…he finally got a bit of defiance from a woman! The development was good, you could see the transition of the two slowly warming to each other.
Grace was a pretty strong lead. She was independent and stubborn and had been through her share of hardship. She had lost her parents, so I really felt for her. She had a great relationship with them while they were alive and there was a lot of emotion apparent when she was remembering them.
Julian started out as distant and arrogant, because he too had been through a lot. His childhood was awful! With the things he described, it’s no wonder he had built up some pretty thick walls. But Grace was able to melt the ice around his heart and he, in turn, was able to break through her trust issues. His fierce protectiveness over her was endearing.
The appearance of Gods and Goddesses was interesting. While the history parts didn’t thrill me, I loved the Greek mythology thrown into the story!
The only complaint I have about this one is that the word droll was overused. It’s a great word, but after about 4 or 5 times it started to make my eye twitch a bit.
And seven orgasms in a row? Really? Damn, I want to meet this Julian guy! ;D
This book was good, but not necessarily great. It’s not a favorite, but was still an entertaining read and I look forward to getting into this series!
