What I’ve been up to this month
The highlight of my month hands down was finally meeting Pierce Brown!! You can see my recap of the event on this post!
In August I participated in a 31 books in 31 days challenge. To my surprise, I actually completed it! 7-8 books were under 200 pages and 6 were manga, but STILL. I’ve never read so many pages in a single month. I’m proud of myself, haha.
Current obsessions
Movies: I was on a Twilight saga kick this month for some reason, lol. They’re so bad but so good to watch XD
Music: I have been absolutely obsessed with Safe and Sound from the Hunger Games soundtrack lately! It’s such a beautiful and haunting song.
Food: I tried Culver’s for the first time and it was SO good! I also had the new hot cocoa Oreo blizzard from DQ and it was the best blizzard I’ve ever had! I was so obsessed with it that I made my own at home with 2 Tbsp of Swiss Miss powder mixed in Carb Smart vanilla ice cream, with a few crushed mini Oreos.
Apps: It’s definitely been TikTok lately, since I joined BookTok and started posting fairly regularly. I try not to open the app unless I have time to spare because somehow every time I get on I lose a couple hours of my life!
Crafts: I tried to do my own sprayed edges (another TikTok made me do it lol) and it was pretty fun! It didn’t come out the way I wanted, but I think it’s the paint I got. I posted a video on my TikTok of the first try and I’ll be attempting again soon with different spray paint!
Other: Book annotating! I’ve always cringed when people write in books and NEVER thought in a million years that I would ever do it. I’ve been using tabs for years, but since finding BookTok I’ve been seeing sooo many videos gorgeous aesthetic annotations with color matched tabs. I decided to do it with my Fourth Wing re-read (mainly because I fell into a black hole of theories on TikTok and wanted to mark everything that was important) and I have to admit…it’s super addicting. I felt pretty naughty writing in a book, but I actually loved it! I’ve got a couple of videos on my TikTok of it if you’re interested in seeing it!
Things I’m looking forward to
In September I’ll be participating in Battleathon, hosted by Mel Lenore Reads! It’s a dragon-themed readathon where you get to pick your dragon type and then read prompts to bond with your dragon. Points are based on star ratings though, so I’ll probably be doing a lot of re-reading since I’m such a picky rater. I’m super excited! So excited in fact, that I redecorated my Kindle in a dragon theme, which I also posted on TikTok if you’re interested in seeing!
