w2tfamily I started this feature here in order to know your fellow bloggers a little better! If you are interested in being featured please fill out the form.

USSfeatureThis week’s featured blogger has been dubbed my blogging niece, and is the one who gave me the idea for the name change!

Blog Button BlueMeet Nova!

Um… I’m so bad at this! Erm…. I’m Nova… *awkward wave*. Friends call me Supernova and if you can tell me what my new favorite show is, you can call me that too ;) Something important about me is that my real name isn’t Nova. It’s… not a secret but I just prefer my alias. I’m 14 and I’m from Canada! I also have an evil twin sister who shares the same body. It’s a permanent power struggle and although her name is mine IRL, I just called her Avon. And yes that is Nova backwards ;).

How long have you been blogging? What made you want to start a book blog?

*sigh* this question. So bear with me. I started my blog in November 2012, learned about promo but wasn’t smart enough to actually make some friends… I was called Nova the Ebook Nerd. *shudders*. Basically, I abandoned my spammy blog for a while and then came back in about April where it became Musings of a Blogder. I still didn’t know what to do so I didn’t come back until June/July. It was then did I realize I needed a schedule and redesign of my blog. I also needed a plan so it wasn’t spammy and now I barely ever do book blitzes. So when did I start? Honestly? NO IDEA.

As for why? I started reading YA in January. (yes… January 2013.) I figured it would be fun so… yep.

What do you do when you’re not blogging or reading?

Psh, I’m on twitter. And my friends are most likely scoffing at this.

What is your favorite part about blogging? Least favorite?

Most favorite is having people to talk to and not feeling like a freak half the time. Least favorite is because I have this “issue” where I’m REALLY jealous half the time and I always have to battle that and make myself remember why I’m doing this. And jealousy towards bloggers that are so famous, they’re in a hall. Of fame. For bloggers.

[Jessi] You’ll make it there someday too! It just takes hard work and dedication. And time. Lots of time. :)

Where did you come up with the name for your blog?

Oh noes! This question! Most likely, this name is going to change. It really should. But somehow I like it. A “blogder” is basically a mix of the word blogger and reader. As well, I had this personal joke where I called “you” the freeder which is the friend + reader. But I quickly ditched it. I’m probably going to change it to something like Teardrops on my Novels (but then again, what if I don’t like Taylor Swift later in the future). Decisions decisions.

[Jessi] Naming a blog after a song is such a great idea! Think I may have to use that for a name change…

Do you have any specific book bloggers that inspire you?

Random shoutouts? Sure. I started blogging because of Mickey at I’m a Bookshark. She was SO nice to me when I was this annoying 12/13 year old :P But a blogger that inspires me are the bloggers at Cuddlebuggery. I strive to be like and unlike them at the same time. Like, because they’re so original, funny and from what I’ve seen Kat is an epic drunk. But unlike because I don’t want to BE LIKE them in content. Originality is everything.

[Jessi] I love Steph and Kat, they’re hilarious!

What do you look for in a blog when following? What are your pet peeves?

I tend not to care about blog design, but if it’s a blog with a boring blogger template, I’m most likely going to click off. I love professional looking blogs as well as the fun ones! I look for originality in posts, funny things and posts that get the readers involved.

My pet peeve? UGH. This: I hate it when bloggers just post boring promos for books. I’m not interested in that every day.

What’s your favorite book(s)?

… Keep in mind I started reading YA this January. There are a lot of books I haven’t read. [Favorites shelf on Goodreads

Favorite author?

Again with the “favorite” question. I don’t like it and because I’m completely indecisive, I can’t choose! AHH! But some faves are Veronica Roth, Katie McGarry, Julie Kagawa, Marissa Meyer, Laini Taylor, Simone Elkeles…

What is the biggest turn off for you when you’re reading a book?

Too fast pacing. If the story goes too fast and there isn’t any detail in what’s going on, the characters will make stupid decisions and the snowball rolls from there.

What first draws you to a book to make you want to read it?

…The cover? I KNOW! It’s horrible. But I’m a sucker for a pretty cover. Next is author. If it’s an author receiving hype, I’ll be more likely to pick it up. And last is the synopsis. If 1 or 3 don’t appeal to me, I’m not picking it up.

Describe yourself in 3 words.

Awkward. Asian. Loyal. Wow, that sounds cheesy.

Name a random fact about yourself.

I can sing, type (like homework), read (something different) and watch TV at the same time.

Do you have a job? If so, what do you do?

Well, I’m the CEO of… Nah just kidding. I’m probably the only 14 year old who wants a job. Bookstore with minimum wage :) I want to make money and get a taste of “the real world”. But for now, I’m an epic couch napper. That counts.

What did you want to be when you were little? Has that changed?

At one point, I wanted to be Spielberg’s incarnate. That was because I had (and still do) have a penchant for telling people what to do. Then it moved to a popstar; I wanted to be Hannah Montana! (yeah… not anymore). Now, I’m just trying to figure myself out and I’ve got a long time before I have to make any real decisions. It’s going between English, Graphic Design (which I’m not good at) or a Musician of some sort. I don’t want to be a “pop star” anymore, there are better things to do for the world, like inspire people.

Randomness

 Cats or dogs?
Cats that bark. Or dogs that meow. I’m down with both.

 Favorite animal?
Unicorns.

 White, dark, or milk chocolate?
Milk, White and last: dark.

 Coke or Pepsi?
Ever put a tooth in a glass of coke? *shudders* Pepsi.

 Favorite TV show?
…(prepare for fandomness). THE VAMPIRE DIARIES. I watched all 4 seasons (like 80 episodes) in 2 weeks with school. DELENA FOREVER. O__O

 Movie?
Anything that’s NOT a Book to Movie (with the exception of Harry Potter)

 Color?
Sparkles. Yes, that’s a color.

Thanks for being here today, Nova! It was great getting to know you! :)

  1. Hahaha. I love it Nova! Randomly when you were like “cats that bark” it made me think of the Barbie movie Princess and the Pauper that I loved when I was little. SO cheesy but there was a cat named Wolfy who barked. Haha.

    You’re so awesome! Rock ON!
    <333 Inky

  2. HI AUNTIE!!!!!

This “Nova” person sounds like an idiot. I mean, who is she? She sounds so unprofessional and ditzy. OMG. Aren’t bloggers, like supposed to actually have a working mind? ;)

Anyway, I wrote these q’s back in like October and now, reading them, I’m like O________O *shudders* (I really was obsessed with TVD)

I feel so speshal giving you an idea for your blog name. Haha, and I sorta named Welcome to the Family too. LOLZ.

    You still rock… Um… I like your hair…?

    Yep.

    BAIIIIII!

    • Haha oh hai! *waves* I don’t think she sounds like an idiot, in fact I rather like her quirkiness ;)
And yes you totally did name Welcome to the Family! I’m not sure that’s in my about page, but I think I mentioned it when I announced the changes. THANK YOU by the way for all the awesome ideas! <333

  3. Glad that we got to know you more, Nova! I see your tweets on Twitter, but I don’t really know you well and I feel like you’re just a bundle of Skittles! Lol. I actually prefer coke than pepsi, idk why since they taste kind of the same except pepsi tastes stronger than coke.
