Review: Prodigy by Marie Lu

Review: Prodigy by Marie Lu

Marie Lu’s world building skills never cease to amaze me. She’s so talented at creating a convincing and detailed world! First off, there’s a map. YES. I love when dystopian and high fantasy novels have a freaking map. I’m a very visual person, I need to see the world! Also, there would be parts where she’d get all technical with military things, and it was so realistic! For example: REPUBLIC SHIP DYNASTY | DEPARTURE: 0851 OCEANSTANDARD TIME, 01.13 FROM PHARAOH DOCK,LAS VEGAS, […]

Make no mistake, I was Team Jack 100% in Everneath. No, I didn’t read Neverfall, and I didn’t care to. I really don’t think it could have made me like Cole because I seriously couldn’t stand him in the first book. Everbound is very full of Cole. I can’t say he’s the main focus, because everything that Nikki does, she does for Jack. But still. There was far too much of him for my tastes, and I certainly didn’t want to find any reason […]

For some reason it took me a while to get into this one. In the beginning I was having some trouble connecting; I’m not sure if it was just me or if it was the writing style. But it definitely got better! My favorite part of this series is the world. It’s so unique! I love the terminology and the idea of it, especially the Senses – Seers, Scires, and Audiles. The ability of a Scire to smell tempers fascinates […]

I loved Throne of Glass, and I must say Crown of Midnight was even better! It was intense and heartbreaking, packed with lies and betrayals and shocks at every turn. “I didn’t really snore, did I?” His face was utterly serious as he said, “Like a bear.” The banter I adored between Calaena and Chaol in the first book was present in the sequel. And Chaol was totally jealous of Archer, it was adorable! I was Team Chaol all the way before, […]

I honestly don’t even know how to write this review. It was one of those books that was just so….something, I can’t even begin to put it into words. Here goes… First of all, the detail that Samantha Shannon put into the world building was incredible. Seriously, kudos to her! I can’t imagine the time that she had to have spent on it. The world in The Bone Season was very in depth and well thought out, with its own […]

This review contains spoilers for Defiance if you haven’t read it. Big thanks to HarperTeen for providing a copy for review!  WOW. If I had one word to describe this thrilling sequel to Defiance, it would be INTENSE. Goodness, where do I start? This book picked up right where the first left off, with Baalboden destroyed and the Commander escaped. It jumped right into the action with the survivors setting out into the Wasteland. And from there on, the story […]
