I’m going to be honest, this is a book I would never have picked up on my own. The cover just screams “contemporary” and I’m not a big contemp reader. I also wouldn’t have pegged it as YA. Whew, that was intense! It’s kind of like the Hunger Games – you should know better than to get attached to anyone cuz PEOPLE DIE. I absolutely loved The Winner’s Curse. I’m sad to say that some of the magic was lost for me somewhere between that book and this sequel. I felt like there was nothing happening plot-wise.
