This book was just….there. It wasn’t bad necessarily, but it wasn’t really all that good either. I felt NOTHING while reading. Absolutely nothing. No intrigue, no disgust (and there were plenty of disgusting things), no emotion whatsoever. Not good. I think that’s what ultimately scored such a low rating for this book is that I didn’t give a crap about the story or the characters. Even when things were actually happening I didn’t care. There was no anticipation, no suspense. The whole abductura […]

Once again, I am the black sheep here. I really thought I could FINALLY find a zombie book I could actually love (so far, there are none), but again, I was wrong. I just want to say first: I really enjoyed Parasite. I loved the convincing world building, and the concept was so realistic it was almost scary. So, if you agree with me and didn’t like Feed, I still suggest picking up Parasite. I am very character driven when it […]

Horror October Discussion: Horror in Books

Horror October Discussion: Horror in Books

Todays topic: The horror genre in books! As I said in my discussion about horror in film: I loooove horror. I love creepy, dark stories. BUT…I am very picky. I do not scare easily at all, and I find 95% of the horror out there comedic rather than scary. I also don’t have a weak stomach. The gorier, the better!  I have yet to find a book that could actually scare me. As of right now, I remain skeptical that it’s […]

Review: Insomnia by J.R. Johansson

Review: Insomnia by J.R. Johansson

Writing reviews for books that didn’t give you much passion either way is very difficult. This is one of those books, sadly. I’m having trouble pinpointing the issue here. The idea behind Insomnia was fantastic, really. Being able to see the dreams of the last person you made eye contact with? Such an interesting concept! But I felt totally ‘meh’ through the whole book. I just couldn’t connect with the story at all. Or our main character, Parker. (I already […]
