I’ll do it or I’ll destroy this empire trying. HOLY. WOW. YOU GUYS. I was totally blown away by this book! This is one of the most unique concepts I’ve read in a very long time! The Diabolic has a very vivid setting with thought out, complex world building. It felt very real and I was super impressed! (A map would have been nice though. Hopefully in the finished copy!) This book felt much like a mixture of Red Rising & Hunger Games. Everything […]

One day, we will ignite and create a blaze that no one can put out, ignore, hurt. We will move forward as one, and in time, rise like sparks beyond the night. In Time At first, I didn’t really care about the story. I tend to see novellas as a waste of time, nothing but filler. But as soon as Zu made an appearance, I was interested. And I found myself becoming more and more invested in the story. And […]

Review: Metaltown by Kristen Simmons

This was Metaltown. Things didn’t change in Metaltown. You changed, and if you didn’t you paid. Beautifully written as always, Kristen! This book was dark and gritty, and perfectly portrayed the struggles of the world. It was such a beautiful and (and heartbreaking) story! I love that it showed the power of rising up and letting your voice be heard. The unfairness of everything really struck me, I thought Kristen did a fabulous job driving that home! I really felt for the characters and […]

Trust no one. Question everything. This book is very difficult for me to review because I kind of have a love/hate relationship with it. I was really excited for this book. In fact, it was in the top 10 on my most anticipated releases of 2016 list. I was so sure I was going to love it, because I loved the White Rabbit Chronicles and the Intertwined trilogy. Sadly, I was disappointed. In the beginning, I had no idea what was going […]

We are the tide. And we are rising. While I still enjoyed this one – it’s hard not to, with the lovely prose and amazing world – I had the same problem with this one that I did with Golden Son: Yet more politics and war strategy dominating the majority of this book. There was a good chunk in the middle that was downright boring because of that. I think some of that could have been condensed and the story […]

I am a child of hell, and I have spent too long in their heaven. My goodness. This book was SO slow. There was soooo much politics and war strategy throughout 75% of this book, and I was growing severely bored with it. The pace was extremely slow as compared to the first book. I was rather sad that it wasn’t as special as the first book was. Despite that, I was still intrigued by the premise. I love the hierarchy […]
