I had a lot of mixed feelings about this book. It got off to a great start with the letter from mother to daughter telling Tempest that she would have a life-altering decision to make: stay human or become a mermaid. The letter captured my attention immediately and piqued my interest. I was thinking, What will she do? How will she choose?? But, I’m afraid to say that after that it was a downward spiral for me. I didn’t like […]

I wanted to love this book. I really did. But honestly, it just gave me a headache. The idea of time-traveling fascinates me. But, the subject is tricky because of the high possibility (or with this one, probability) of confusion. I had a hard time not comparing this to Hourglass, which I read only last month and loved. Unfortunately, Tempest was just a tiny shadow in the blazing glory of Hourglass. (Yes I know, comparing is bad. Sorry.) So many […]

I was really confused at the beginning because things weren’t explained right away…like the pills, what the heck are the pills?! But soon you find out that the green pill is to calm you, blue is to help you survive in case of emergency…and the red pill is the big mystery. I figured it out right before it was revealed, I was pretty proud of myself. It made sense, really, considering how Society wants to mold everyone. The sleep tags […]

I. HATE. LOVE. TRIANGLES!!!! Ok, now that I’ve gotten that out of my system. I was thoroughly unimpressed by this book. The plot was good, sure, but it just lacked for me. Even the ending –  with everything falling apart and the death of an important character – felt rushed. Maybe because I was skimming to get to the end and get it over with, who knows. It wasn’t a bad book necessarily, but it wasn’t memorable at all. Her prose […]

I didn’t really know what to think of this book. It started out really slow and although I love paranormal stuff, this story didn’t seem to sell very well at first. It came off as a little cheesy and cliche in some spots, but as the story started to pick up I actually found myself enjoying it. I almost gave up a couple times, but after like page 150 or so it finally gets interesting.   In the beginning Zara […]

So Kylie comes from a dysfunctional family…in the beginning, her parents (who I really just want to punch in the face repeatedly) are getting a divorce. She gets busted for being in the wrong place at the wrong time and gets shipped off to a camp of supernaturals. She has no idea that it’s actually a camp for supernaturals, so when she starts meeting her campmates things get a little freaky. But then the camp leader, Holiday, pulls her aside […]
