I’m afraid this is yet another book that has second book syndrome for me, sadly. It just didn’t have the magic that the first book had! I still highly enjoyed Rick Yancey’s writing style. Champion was a fast paced thrill ride and was the perfect ending to a stunning series! There was plenty of action, and the war aspect was well portrayed. It was very dark and gritty at times (the perfect picture of war). So many heart pounding scenes, especially with Jameson! June and Day’s relationship was heartbreaking! Marie Lu’s world building skills never cease to amaze me. She’s so talented at creating a convincing and detailed world! First off, there’s a map. YES. I love when dystopian and high fantasy novels have a freaking map. I’m a very visual person, I need to see the world!
