Just like the first two books in the Fins series, Just for Fins was a cute and fun read! I devoured it all in almost one sitting, and in one day (that doesn’t happen very often!). Lily and Quince are back for another magical adventure, and their relationship is stronger than ever. The romance wasn’t the biggest focus in this book, but their love for each other was obvious in their actions. I love Quince! There was a lot of politics […]

What a glorious read! Out of all the paranormals, weres have always been my favorite – and this book didn’t make them look all fluffy and sweet. Lupine Syndrome is an actual disease, and when infected, the person typically turns into a monster and a killer. Hemlock really portrayed the ugly side of humanity. There was a lot of bigotry and racism towards those infected and it was violent at times. The riot at the protest and the way Branson […]

I had absolutely no idea that this book was in verse until I read a review for it a week or two ago, and by that time I had already requested it from the library. I’m glad I didn’t know, because I might not have read it. This was my first experience with verse and not something I would have willingly chosen. At first it was a little hard to follow the broken sentences, but when I got used to […]

This story was beautiful and enchanting. I loved all the magical beings mentioned; sylphs, centaurs, trolls, and my favorite – dragons. I have always had an affinity for dragons, so that aspect alone made me like it even more. Also, I love originality and Incarnate had it in bounds. The idea of the same souls being reincarnated lifetimes over, the being known as ‘Janan’ (their God), and the unique take on sylphs and dragons. Everything about the world created was […]

While I hate chick flicks, I adore Disney movies. And this book is definitely Disney material. It’s like the Little Mermaid meets the Ugly Truth (if you haven’t seen it, you should watch it).   Lily has been “in love” – and I quote because it’s really more of obsession – with Brody for 3 years. They have a passing conversation here and there but for the most part he doesn’t really notice her. Her arrogant neighbor, Quince, decides to […]

After reading Bloodlust, this book seemed rather mundane. I wasn’t wowed by Childs’ prose, but I do admit there weren’t really many spots in this book that I got bored. This book was simple and mindless with not much thought required…but sometimes it’s nice for a quick and easy read. I really like the thought behind the story in this one…triplets separated at birth (with mythological powers) stumble upon each other unexpectedly…kind of like Parent Trap with a twist.  I […]
