After Cerulean Sea, I would have picked this up regardless (even though I wasn’t a huge fan of Under the Whispering Door); but at YALLfest I saw him on a panel where he talked about the book and said it had a sentient Roomba with anxiety. And I KNEW I needed it asap! Said Roomba and the other sidekick robot, Nurse Ratched, were by far my favorite part about this book! Rambo the vacuum was adorably anxious and needy, which […]

Disclaimer: I don’t usually swear in my reviews, but there’s some colorful language in this one. Welp, there’s a reason this took me three whole years to pick up. I just want to say: I despise when a series is “finished” and the author writes another book for it years down the road. They are always, always terrible, in my opinion. I cannot think of one single series where I haven’t hated it. (*side eyeing you, Tahereh Mafi*) To me […]

“Everything’s science fiction until someone makes it science fact.” For once, a book that lives up to its hype! I was on the fence about this one, because a) honestly the cover is awful (but it is growing on me), b) I tend to be the black sheep on super hyped books, and c) Marie Lu’s books are hit or miss for me (Legend was great but the finale fell short, Young Elites was amazing but I didn’t like the second […]

This was Metaltown. Things didn’t change in Metaltown. You changed, and if you didn’t you paid. Beautifully written as always, Kristen! This book was dark and gritty, and perfectly portrayed the struggles of the world. It was such a beautiful and (and heartbreaking) story! I love that it showed the power of rising up and letting your voice be heard. The unfairness of everything really struck me, I thought Kristen did a fabulous job driving that home! I really felt for the characters and […]

I am right. He is wrong. I am the spark that will set the worlds afire. I am the hammer that cracks the chains. What the slag made me wait so gorydamn long to read this book?! This book was awesome! It totally took me by surprise. I’ve been seeing it around everywhere since it came out, have witnessed many readers raving about how amazing it is, and still I put off reading it. Why? I don’t even know. I guess […]

[Lots of spoilers ahead, but all are in tags. DO NOT CLICK THEM IF YOU HAVEN’T READ THE BOOK. No, seriously. They will ruin it for you because they are doozies. Just don’t do it, man.] For the majority of this book, I feel like there wasn’t really anything happening. I got fairly bored with the audio because it was moving at a snail’s pace. I listened to it while traveling to Florida, and I actually had to turn it […]
