The bird that sings at midnight from within its cage of bone will rise from blood and ashes, to greet the truth unknown While I still really enjoyed this book, it didn’t quite have the magic that The Girl at Midnight had. I gave the first book my esteemed Hail to the King Award, and it was one of my favorite books of YEAR. I suppose it’s kind of hard to top that, eh? The characters felt very real, and […]

This book is very difficult for me to rate, because my thoughts about it were all over the place. There were some things I really loved, and some other things that I really didn’t love. In the beginning, I was SO onboard for this book! I was absolutely loving it. I was hooked from the start and totally intrigued by the idea of it all. I found it very engaging, and I was sure this was going to be a 5 […]

She was iron and fire, a warrior’s spirit with a lion’s heart. While I didn’t enjoy this one quite as much as I’d hoped (I loved the Defiance trilogy), it was still an enjoyable read! I love retellings, and even though I never really got super into the Snow White fairy tale, I thought this was a great retelling of it. Wicked stepmother and all. (Except, where are the dwarves?!) The thing I loved the most about this book? DRAGONS. […]

She was a whirling cloud of death, a queen of shadows, and these men were already carrion. I had the same exact problem with this book as I had with Heir of Fire – painfully slow pacing. This book was FAR too long. I feel like there was a lot of unnecessary filler that could have been cut out to push the plot along a bit faster. It didn’t get exciting and start catching my interest until the last third […]

What a fabulous concept! I think that was the driving point of this novel for me. I highly enjoyed the world and all of the monsters. I also loved the Hunters and the fact that they had a celebrity status – all of the costumes and colors reminded me a bit of the way the Jaeger pilots were portrayed in the beginning of Pacific Rim! This book was certainly cinematic – it would be awesome as a movie! There was […]

A huge thank you to Tor Teen for sending me a copy for review! This book was so full of cute! It was a very fluffy read (which I need from time to time), adorable and fun in the vein of Rachel Hawkins. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this book! I love the world of witchery in this book – they have a ‘WitchNet’ and a ‘Witchipedia.’ Cute, right?! Also a dragon! And a werewolf pup! I […]
