I certainly wasn’t expecting verse! It was a bit distracting, though, which is why I don’t usually read verse. I get so focused on the lyrical quality that I don’t pay attention to what’s happening. Holly Bodger’s prose was beautiful, though! I liked that Sudasa’s POV was written in verse and 5’s was written in regular prose. It made a clear distinction between their voices. I’m afraid I didn’t connect to the story quite like I’d hoped. While the idea was […]

Mini Review: The Witch Hunter by Virginia Boecker

I was really impressed with Virginia Boecker’s prose. It was engaging, so even when there was a lull in the plot or action, I was still interested in the story! I freaking loved George! He cracked me up! I was really hoping in the beginning that he was going to be the love interest. (*sighs wistfully*) I also really liked Fifer! She was feisty, and even though she came off as a hard ass (or worse), she totally won me […]

This book was refreshingly unique! I’m kind of glad I steered away from any reviews before picking this one up. I honestly didn’t really have any idea what to expect because I hadn’t read the synopsis since I added the book way back when it was put on Goodreads. So I really had no idea what it was going to be about! I definitely wasn’t expecting an alien book. I loved that, though! In the beginning you really have no […]

I absolutely loved The Winner’s Curse. I’m sad to say that some of the magic was lost for me somewhere between that book and this sequel. I felt like there was nothing happening plot-wise. This book is a romance. Nothing more. The entire story was solely Arin and Kestrel pining for one another, and the hardships they faced that kept them apart. And yeah, it sucked, but I didn’t connect to this one nearly as much as I did to the first […]

I still don’t fit. Heart half on earth, half in the clouds. I’m still different from everyone else. There’s still no place I belong. It’s really hard to pin down exactly how I felt about Magonia. There were times when I was asking myself, “What the crap am I reading?” and times when I was actually enjoying it. This book was weird. Really weird. Sometimes good weird, sometimes bad. Sometimes farfetched. There were a lot of things that I just couldn’t […]

Audiobook Review: Alice in Zombieland by Gena Showalter

Audiobook Review: Alice in Zombieland by Gena Showalter

Going into this, I honestly wasn’t sure I was going to like it. First of all, it was really over-hyped. Which tend to be the kind of books I end up not liking. Second, the negative reviews I read scared me away. A few things I heard about this book that made me not want to read it: Despite the title, it’s not actually about zombies. Or Alice in Wonderland. Gena Showalter tried too hard to make the prose sound like […]
