My major issue with this book was with Cole and Ali’s relationship. It was so hot and cold that I got mental whiplash! I mean, the breakup part of it was very realistic. Having just gone through a breakup myself, it made me sick to my stomach to read it, because I knew what Ali was feeling. But sometimes they were so ridiculous I wanted to bash their heads together! I couldn’t see any real reason for the way Cole was acting. […]

A special thank you to Hyperion for providing a copy for review! While I still didn’t enjoy this one as much as the first book, it was better than the 2nd! It was a good ending to a very interesting trilogy. I figured Zane was going to end up like Ariane in this book! It still kinda sucked though, that St. John used him as a weapon. I can imagine what it was like for Ariane when he walked into […]

There was sooo much 80’s pop culture in this book! I did get excited about the music references, but honestly most of it was over my head because it was things I wasn’t interested in (particularly 80’s video games, I never had any gaming consoles growing up sadly). I don’t know much about video games from that era because I was never that big into gaming. So a lot of those references had little to no meaning to me. But […]

I’m not really sure how I felt about this book, to be honest. Rating it was very difficult! On one hand, the idea was interesting and unique. Brilliant, really. On the other hand, the prose was horribly sophomoric and I felt a massive disconnect because it was so dry. I kinda wish this had been required reading when I was in high school. I probably would have loved it if I’d read it when I was much younger. But the […]

Whew, that was intense! It’s kind of like the Hunger Games – you should know better than to get attached to anyone cuz PEOPLE DIE. I mean, that was completely realistic though, because they’re fighting for their lives. I kind of liked that aspect. But sometimes it was still unexpected! MADOX. I still freaking looove Madox! I want him to be mine, all mine! He is definitely still the best part of this story. Also, I totally love that Tella was collecting Pandoras. […]

Review: 5 to 1 by Holly Bodger

Review: 5 to 1 by Holly Bodger

I certainly wasn’t expecting verse! It was a bit distracting, though, which is why I don’t usually read verse. I get so focused on the lyrical quality that I don’t pay attention to what’s happening. Holly Bodger’s prose was beautiful, though! I liked that Sudasa’s POV was written in verse and 5’s was written in regular prose. It made a clear distinction between their voices. I’m afraid I didn’t connect to the story quite like I’d hoped. While the idea was […]
